‘Mr. Early A. Kemp died last. Wed
-lesday morning. He was paralyzed
about two years ago and bore his af
fliction patiently, and expressed him
self as ready and willing to go. A
few weeks ago he was taken seriously
sick apd his death was expected. He
was one of our leading citizens and
will be missed in the community. He
was faithful to his church and had
been an elder in Midway Presbyterian
church for more than 30 years. He
'was 72 years of age. He stood for
the right and openly condemned those
things that were hurtful to the com
nfanity; was a good neighbor and al
ways ready to visit the sick and help
those in distress, many can testify to
his kind deeds and help. * He leaves

noon. The entire ¢ommunity feels
the loss of this gcod citizen and sym
pathizes with the bereaved family.
We understand there were some
Marietta ladies who had the court
house cleaned up to make it a fit
place for holding the childs welfare
work. Cleaning the court house!
Think “about the ‘spittoons, ambier,
filth and odors. Who would tackle the
job some ladies did for the sake of
having it sanitary and respectable for
this work. It was cleaned and dis
infected and looked as neat as a par
lor. We are told it was done by the
Daughters of the Confederacy and
Mrs. M. R. Lyon and Mrs. Tom Flor
ence were the leaders in the work—
by the way, we always find these
ladies names associated with some
good work. We want to thank them
in behalf of our people here. Couldn’t
our citizens, when they occupy the
court house, treat it with more re
spect and not make it a place of filth.
Some one a few years ago suggest
ed that they hold the pig club fair in
the court house, others objected—
said it wasn’t a decent place to carry
the pigs. Men, look out, when the
viomen get to voting there is going
to be lots of cleaning up done and
somebody is going to get hit.
