We had a hail and rain storm one
evening last week, but we don’t hear
of any serious damage.
Mr. Grady Wilkie has purchased
his dairy cattle and moved them to
his farm near Smyrna.
Several have been attending court

close her school at McAfee with an

NEW PROVIDENCE
We are having some fine weather
at the present time. The farmrs are
getting in a notion of planting corn.
Last Saturday and Sunday were
regular preaching days at this place.
Rev. McCoy delivered two fine ser
mons. s -
The people of this community were
caddened last Monday night when the
news came that Rev. W. E. McCollum
was dead. We let our hearts sympa
thy extend to the bereaved members
of his family. This church showed
the last bit of respect to him by pre
senting a bunch of carnations and
ferns, arranged nicely by Miss Ida
Harrison, of Marietta, and attending
his funeral. Brother McCollum had
a host of friends and will be greatly
missed.
The singing given by Miss Lila Mae
Russell last Saturday night was en
joyed by all present.

Miss Minnie Lou Lancaster and
Mr. Grady Green, of this community
‘were married Saturday afternoon,
‘March 19th, by Rev. A. W. Ledbetter,
at his home at this place. Only a
few of their friends were present.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Lancaster. She was lovely
in a navy blue tricotine dress. The
groom is the son of Mrs. Green, he
is to be congratulated on winning
such a companion as Miss Minnie
Lou. We wish for them much hap
piness.

guests of Miss Verdie Nix.

MABLETON
Married Thursday, March 17th, at
the home of the bride’s uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Lowe; Miss
Nellie D. Spink, to William Brackston
Gilbert, of Marron, Ga. On account
of the serious illness of the bride’s
brother only the members of the im
mediate families and a few friends
were present. The Rev. J. M. De-
Foor, of Marron, Ga., officiated.
The house was decorated with
spring flowers and the ceremony was
performed in the drawing room. Lo
hengrin’s' wedding march was played
by Miss Nell Gilbert. The bride wore
a suit of blue tricotine with a blouse
of Georgette and lace ang hat of blue
Georgette braid and French flowers.
Her corsage was bride’s roses and
valley lilies.
The bride has many friends here
who wish her much happiness and
success in her new life. Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert left immediately for Morrow,
Ga., where they will reside.
