Club held its first meeting of the Fall
wih the Chajrman, Miss Mabel Cor
felyon, on, Friday afternoon.
Current events were discussed by
the vorions members, and an outline
of the topics to be stuied for the
coming year was made.

“Ireland” for the following six months
The election of September 22nd was
discused and the jmportance of the
women regristering was stressed. |

A beautiful event of the past week
was the Bridge party at which Mrs.l
W. B. Tate and Miss Mary Byrd Tate
entertained eigthy of their friends on
Wednesday afternoon at the Golf
Clab.
A Cluny lace cover was used on the
long oak table. A brass epergne hol
ding purple butterfly flowers, pink
Roses, Tube roses and trailing cle
matis adorned the table, making an
erquisite centerpiece. ‘
Mrs. Ed Stephens of Woodstick,
won the prize for top score, a paor
of silk hose, and Mrs. Pearl Terrel,
Who cut the consolation was given a
wall vase, filled with immortelles.
Miss Lucile Morris won the girls prite‘
for highest score, a bottle of Houbri
| gants perfume. Miss Sarah Wood.
Lramling, a lovely young bride electJ
of the autumn, who was among thel
guests, was presented with a colo
nial boquet of batchelor buttons.
After the game, a salad and ice
course and bon-bons were served by

Mrs. W. B, Tate entertained at a
surprise party on Thursday evening
for her sister, Mrs. Sam Sibley, the
affair celebrating the birthday of the
honoree.
A delightfu] buffet supper was ser
ved on small tables placed on the wide
veranda.
An amusing feature of the evening
was a presentation of a large number
if gifts to Mrs. Sibley. The various
packages were piled high in a baby
carriage, and rolled into the drawing
room, by little Miss Jennije Tate, the
pretty little daughtre of the hostess.
Those present included Judge and
Mrs. Sibley and children, Mrs. P. N.
Holland and family, Mrs. W. B. Tate
and family, and Mr. and Mrs. George
Keeler,

Picture_Show Party
Little Miss Dorothy Nutting cele
brated her twelfth birthday on last
Thursday afternoon, with a picture
show party.
After enjoying the picture at the
Dixie, the party went to Sams for
ice cream and cake. Ferns and palms
twm-o used in decorating.

A simple but beautiful wedding,
taking place in the presence of a
small circle of relatives and intimate

which was soleminized on August 28.
The bride wore a smart suit of
navy blue tricotine with brown ac
cessories. Her hat, a styfi%model,
was of velvet, showing self- ying..
Mrs. Mabry is the eldest daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Bishop, of‘
Marietta. She is graduated from the
high sihool of Marietta and attend
ed the Normal and Industrial colleye
at Milledgeville. She is one of
Marietta’s most beautiful young wo
men and has a host of admiriing
friends who will be interested in the
announcement of her marriage.
Mr. Mabry is the third son of Mr.
and Mrs. G. A. Mabry, of Roswell.
Ha is a young man of sterling char
acter and rare business ability.
After September 1 Mr. and Mrs.
Mabry will be at home to their
friends at 608 Woodward avenue.

season was the ftea at which Mrs.
James W. Legg entertained on Thurs
day ‘afternoon at the Golf Club, hon
oring Mrs. E. A. Groves of New
Orleans and Mrs. R. L. Northcutt.
Cut glass vases, jardinieres and
silver bowls filled with quantities of
summer flowers, dahlias, zinnias, as:
ters and roses, were placed on man
tel, window ledges and small tables.
The tea table was covered with a
handsome Chinese cloth, embroidered
in gold thread. A large blue jar
diniere filled with rose-colored can
nas, made an artistic central decora
tion. Silver compotes, holding yel
low and white mints, were placed at
either end of the long table.
The wide balustrade. surrounding
the terrace was adorned with jardi
neres and baskets, filled with sum
mer blossoms.

Mrs. Legg wore a beautiful after
noon costume of blue taffeta combin
ed with white French organdie, with
a large hat of white organdie and
lace.
Mrs. Northeutt was handsomely
gowned in pine apple tissue, over‘
clothyof gold. With this, she wore a
large black hat, trimmed with ostrich
plumes.
Mrs. Groves wore a becoming frock
of pink organdie with a dathty pic
ture hat of white lace.
About one hundred and fifty guests
called during the reception hours.

Picture-Show Party.
Mrs. C. C. Hawkins entertained at
a picture-show party, on Thursday
evening, in honor of her attractive
niece, Miss' Mary Chaffe. of New
Orleans, inviting Misses Elizabeth
Northcutt, Elizabeth, Moor and J. R.
Griggs, B. F. Boatner and Harry
Looney.
After seeing the picture at the
Dixie, the party went to Mrs. Haw
kins’ home for refreshments.
Mirs. Mayes Frey assisted Mrs.
Hawkins in entertaining.
