Hard Times Overtalked
I "Hard times has been talked so much that is has
Jost a great deal of its drawing power. However,
trupe the fact that hard times have been experienced
in the past several months, people are growing wea
ry of hearing it and are beginning to brighten up a
bit in their outlook for the future. Talking good
times may not have the results that is sometimes
elaimed for it, but it does have a meritorious in
fluence in getting people to take advantage of op
portunities that come their way and in great meas
wres affects the times. Stop comparing, or contrast
ing present conditions with war time conditious.‘
Consider back a little further to normal times and
youn will not be so pessimistic about affairs. If you’- ‘
ve got good health, stop kicking backward and try |
a step forward. |
] Rewards Bring Action
A half a dozen men have been arrested and held ‘
as sxi’spects in the Atlanta murder case. If some
one would offer a thousand dollars for the appro-‘
hension of a bootlegger, the jail could not accomo-f
date all of them. |

Clean athletics are, perhaps, the most wholesome
things boys and girls, or men or women for that
matter, can indulge in. To see e group of husky,
clean limbed youth move like panthers and grey
hounds over the floor with almost inexhaustable
endurance and then see the girls’ team serimmage
'with them in practice on practically even terms,
proving themselves almost equally fast, strong and

ward march of the human race and builds visions of
a race of men for the future when disease is an un

of form and funetion—mind and body.
Too great stress con not be laid upon these things
and it might be finally said that people arise as a
rule, only to thuse‘-‘heigh’ts or fall to those depths
where the expectatibns of their home people place
them. Tlt, then, behooves the people of the city to
expect the most of these boys and girls and let
them know i{f by supporting them to the fullest
possible extent in their activities along these lines.

while nothing in this program will
