Miss Owenby Hostess at House Party Miss Marie Owenby has as her at tractive guests, Miss Farous Darden, of Hogansville, Miss Jane Lovelace, of West Point, Miss Frances Brooks, of Cedartown, and Miss Anabel Maye, of Vienna. Miss Owenby’s house party is the last of a series of five. The members of this unique progres sive affair have attracted much at tention and have been the center of many delightful social affairs at the home of each. , With Miss Owenby as the charming hostess many courtesies will be shown the visitors, among them a bridge party at which the hostess will enter tain Thursday morning; another de lightful affair will be a dinner party at Roxana Hall. Miss Owenby and her guests will leave Thursday afternoon for a few days in Canton, where they will be entertained. —— Mr. and Mrs. Venable Entertain The beautiful bridge party given by Mr. and Mrs. Welborn Venable, at the Golf Club, on Thursday evening was in honor of Miss Christine Blair and Mr. Bagley Wright, of Atlanta, whose engagement was recently an nounced. The club was artistically decorated, a color scheme of yellow being car ried out in detail. Many graceful baskets of marigolds and golden glow adorned the mantels and stands, and the wall-baskets were filled with the same rich flowers. The ladies’ prize for top scotre, a pretty set of Bridge markers, was won by Miss Lucile Ses sions, while the booby, a pair of nov elty napkin rings, was given to Miss Elizabeth Stephens. The men’s first prize, a Japanese ciagrette case, was won by Ben Wel lons, Jr., while Thomas Session fell heir to the booby. Misses Mary Louise Wallace and Cleo Smith assisted in serving the delicious salad course. Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Venable in entertaining the sixty guests, were Mrs. D. W. Blair and Mrs. J. D. Northeutt. This was the first of the many en tertainments planned for Miss Blair. A AR W. M. Murray, Jr., has Birthday Mrs. W. M. Murray surprised her small son, W. M., Jr., with a picture show party on Friday afternoon, in celebration of his tenth birthday. The guests were Tom Perkinson, William Hagood, Newt Malone Lan ders, Robert Shepard, Walter McKin ney, Harrison Anderson and Basford Fields. Ice cream, cake and candy were served the boys after the show. -——_*———. Woman’s Club Gives Benefit Party ! The benefit bridge given by the Woman’s Club at the golf club on Thursday afternoon was a great suc cess. Twenty-six tables were reserved and about fifty dollars was cle_ared.‘ The occasion was a most enjoyable social event also, and the club plans to repeat the experiment every month. T Mrs. Horace Field was the chaxr—; man in charge and she was assisted by Mrs. J. Mack Fowler, Mrs. W. M. Murray, Mrs. W. A. Florence, Mrs. Allan Hardeman, Mrs. Frank Bunt- Ing and Misses Mabel Cortelyou and Mary Lizzie Benson. ——-_*— Jolly Party at El Sitio : Forty friends enjoyed the unique ¢ntertainment given by Mr. and Mrs. Martin Amorous on Tuesday evening In honor of Mrs. Lucius Chappell, of gpblixmbus, the guest of Mrs. S. H. ibley. . On arriving the guests were placed In line, and marched to the handsome new sun parlor. Here they were met by Mrs. N. K. Smith, the ‘head-wait- Nagkin, @ndj silver, and wejcomed €r,” who handed each one a plate, them to the “newest cafeteria.” The guests marched round to the different tables, laden with platters of ham, chicken salad, and every other good th%“g, where they were served .by Misses Addie Setze, Anne Bolling Claiborne, and Mary Jeal, of Rome. The refreshing accompaniment to the good things to eat was ice cold home made cider, Music added to the pleasures of the €vening, and the whole affair was most enjoyable. A delicious lun cheon was served after the game. Mrs. Welborn Venable was the for tunate winner of the first prize, a pair of very ornate earrings. The honor guests were presented with lovely silk hose. About fifty guests were entert:ined. Rook Party for Young Visitors Miss Wylene Collins was the dainty little hostess at a pretty rook party on Tuesday afternoon, given for Misses Carolyn Hazlehurst, of Macon, and Charme and Margaret Shippen, of Ellijay. Thirty-two of the young school girl set enjoyed the game. The rooms were attractively decorated in seas onable flowers, and dainty refresh ments were servei. Mrs. Blair and Miss Anderson Joint Hostesses The bridge party given on Mon day afternoon by Mrs. Leslie L. Blair and Miss Emma Kahterine Anderson was one of the largest and most beau tiful affairs of the season. The house was lavishly decorated in gay garden flowers, golden glow being used in the reception hall and dining room, and zinnias, marigold and colyopsis adorning library and drawing room. The prize for top-score, a beau tiful embroidered towel, was won by Miss Glennis Hancock, and Mrs. P. D. Prom Party for Young Guests Misses Julia and Mary Linda Ab bott gave a delightful prom party on Thursday evening, in honor of‘ their house-guests, Misses Julia and Sarah Thompson, of Norcross. } The lawn was lighted with rows of | gay japanese lanterns, and the punch‘ bowl wreathed in flowers and bunches of grapes, was on a table under the trees. Music and dancing were en joyed by the sixty young guests. Dainty refreshments were served. | i B i Pretty Supper for Visitor Dr. and Mrs. Leslie Blair enter tained very happily at supper on Monday evening, for Miss Hermione Walker, of Atlanta. Golden glow in a large -crystal bowl adorned the prettily appointed table.
