took place on this historical spot.
Basket dinner on the ground at
12 o’clock.
Mr. Jno. A. Metcalf, directing
manager of the Kennesaw Mountain
Battlefield Association, will be in
charge of all arrangements. Wm,
Tate Holland, president of the asso
ciation, and N. Kemper Smith, secre
tary, will also be present with the
delegation of the Daughters of Con
federacy to greet the visitors.
The Kennesaw Mountain Battle
field Association has tendered to the
all day singers the free use of its
property and is planning extra enter-‘
tainment for the guests who are so
fortunate as to attend this affair. In
the past the 4th of July singings have
been held at the Cobb County court
house, but this year when the unusu
al opportunity was offered the presi
dent in charge of arrangements, Mr.
Ed Crow, and his assistants, Mr. Sam
Huddleston and Mr. W. L. Thacker,
quickly accepted same, because the
event will be made several times
larger than to have it in Marietta,
and in addition to this, it gives the
people of Cobb county and the ad
joining counties an opportunity to
see the actual work progressing on
the Kennesaw Mountain road and on
the development of the Kennesaw
Mountain Park which will be comple
ted by early fall.
In attendance at this great singing
will be expected representatives from
every district and section of Cobb
county and all the adjoining counties
and it is expected that this will be
the largest affair of its kind that has
ever been staged in Cobb county.
The American Legion of Marietta
has kindly agreed to assist in hand
ling this affair and the other events
to be staged on this cceasion will be
announced later.
Hon. J. T. Rose, Collector of Inter
nal Revenue, ‘will deliver an address.
Other prominent Georgians will also
address the erowd.
