Many Entertain At Club Tea
Many bright parties were assembled
at the Golf Club Tea on last Satur
day afternoon, the presence of a num
ber of charming and attractive vis
itors occasioning the lovely affairs.
Mrs. Frank McNeel, Mrs. Bagley
Wright, Mrs. Welbourn Venable, Mrs
Morgan McNeel, Jr. Mrs. Leslie Blair
and Mrs. DeLeon Little were host
esses for the afternoon.
Quantities of rose colored crepe
myrtle used in profusion throughout
the club was richly colorful and beau
tiful. The tea table was covered
with a madeira tea cloth and a tall
silver basket of crepe myrtle graced
the center. Smaller silver baskets
filled with the same flowers were
placed at each end of the table and
silver candlesticks holding rose col
ored tapers stood at intervals on the
table. 1
The largest party of the afternoon
was entertained by Mrs. Ralph W.!
Northcutt, who is giving a series of ‘
teas in compliment to her sister, Miss
Mattie Lou Hatcher, of Macon, Ga.l
This congenial group of friends was |

Pleasant Affair
A pleasant affair of the week was
the rook party on Tuesday afternoon
at which Mrs. A. O. Benson and Mrs.
A. C. Benson were joint hostesses in
compliment to their sister, Mrs. R.
L. Stewart, of Scrooba, Miss.
The rooms where the guests were
’entertained were made attractive
with garden flowers in the vivid mid
summer shades. On their arrival the
guests were served punch by Miss Jo
sephine Stewart, from the punch
bowl embedded in green vines. Af

CHILDREN OF CONFEDERACY
GO TO STONE MOUNTAIN
A most enjoyable and interesting
day was spent last Wednesday by the
Children of the Confederacy when
they motored to Stone Mountain
where they viewed the stupendous
monument being carved on the moun
tain side, and later enjoyed a picnic
luncheon.
En route to Stone Mountain the
party stopped in Atlanta at the Old
Soldiers’ Home, where they were re
ceived with delight by its inmates
and where they spent a most inter
esting hour.
The party was chaperoned by Mrs.
M. R. Lyon, Mrs. T. W. Florence,
Mrs. S. D. Rambo, Mrs. S. C. Me-
Eachern, Mrs. George Gober and Mrs.
Irene Gramling.
The party numbered about thirty
five.
Personal Mention
Mrs. W. S. Tomlinson and daugh
ters, Sarah Frances, Lillian, and Ann
are the guests of Mrs. James Lee in
Macon, Ga.
Mr and Mrs Henry Cohen returned
last Saturday from a delightful trip
to Washington, Baltimore, and New
York. Mr. Cohen attended the Na
tional Banker’s Convention in Bal
timore while away.
Mr. and Mrs Charlie Tillman spent
Sunday with friends in Newnan, Ga.
Mrs. James Lee and Mr. Sherod
Tomlinson, of Macon, Ga., returned
to their home on Monday after spend
ing last week with Mrs. W. S. Tomlin
son.
Miss Alice Rowland of Athens Ga.,
will arrive Saturday for a visit to
Miss Harrfiet Leake. Many delight
ful social affairs have been planned
in her honor.

Mrs. L. D. Hoppe, Sr., of Atlanta,

SHOWER FOR MISS PARKS
A pleasant event of Friday evening
was a farewell party and surprise
shower given by Miss Elizabeth
Moore, at her home on Church St. for
Miss Eva Parks, whose marriage to
Mr. Ted Roberson, of Macon, oc
curred July 27th.
The evening was spent in reminis
cences of the good times the guests
had had together in bygone years as
nearly all had grown up from child
hood with the bride. Later in the
evening delightful refreshments were
served by the hostess, assisted by her
mother, Mrs. Arthur Moore.
The guests included Misses Parks,
Florence Wolfe, Emma Belle Os
borne, Eva Garriss, Nita Belle Mad
dox, Cecil Watson and her guest,
Florence Hartley, of Irwinton, Alice
Wiley, Gertie Morris, Evelyn Wat
kins and Elizabeth Northcutt.
Mrs. Mollie Martin, who has been
in Atlanta for several months, is now
the guest of Mrs. G. C. Roberts.
Prof. C. A. Wells, of Tech was the
guest of his sister, Mrs. Tate Me-
Lain for several days this week.
The Woman’s Missionary Society
of the Methodist church held its
meeting in the League Room on Mon
day afternoon and enjoyed a most in
teresting program presented by Mr.s
R. C. Cleckler.

on next Monday where they will be
joined by Mr. Graham Sullivan, of
New York, who will return to Mariet
