Miss Scott Honoree at Lovely Party
Miss Carolyn Scott, of Union
Point, Ga., the guest of Miss Francis
Hardeman, was the honoree at a de
lightful bridge and rook party given
on last Friday afternoon by Mrs.
John Dudley at her home on Church
Street.
Many marigolds in the yellow and
orange shades made the rooms where
the card tables were placed attrac
tive and the lovely color motif was
carried out in the sweets and ices
served after the game.
Latimer-Anderson Family Reunion
Over one hundred members of the
Latimer and Anderson families, two
families that have played a .most
prominent part in the history of
Cobb county from the pioneer days
down to the present time, met at
Noonday on last Saturday for the
family reunion which has been an an
nual event for a number of years.
In the morning a baseball game,
in which “the house was divided fur
nished a great deal of entertainment
HAPPY REUNION OF FORMER
CLUB HELD
A happy occasion of the week was
the reunion party given on Tuesday
evening by Mrs. Irene Gramling at
which were assembled a number of
friends who were childhood and girl
hood crums and schoolmates.
The party was first intertained at
the Dixie Theater after which they
were carried to Mrs. Gramling’s
home on Powder Springs Street,
where a lovely dinner was served and
where the evening was merrily spent
in talking over years fraught with
innumerable happy memories and re
newing the bonds of old friendships
and the ties of school days.
The guests for this occasion were
Mrs. James Watson, of Lina, Ohio,
Miss Leila Anderson, of Jackson,
Tenn., Mrs. Chan Jones, of Albany,
Ga., Mrs. Seth Gunter, of Dallas,
Texas, Mrs. A. B. Gilbert, Mrs. H. N.
DuPre, Miss Aileen Gober, Mrs.l
Lewis Turner and Mrs. J. J. Daniell.

“42” CLUB MEETS WITH
MRS. ROBERTS |
Mrs. Mollie Martin, a former high
ly esteemed and much admired resi
dent of Marietta, was the central fig-l
ure of interest at the delightful “42”
party given on last Thursday after-i
noon by Mrs. George Roberts at her
home on Kennesaw avenue. ‘
Mrs. Martin is a charter member
of the “Elva 42 Club” and the pleas
ure of the delightful occasion was
greatly enhanced by her presence and
much of the afternoon was spent in
the enthusiastic welcome of this
member by her many friends.
The rooms where the game was
played were brightened by many gar
den flowers in effective arrangement.
After the game delicious refresh
ments were servd.

WOMAN’S CLUB TO MEET
FOURTH TUESDAY
A call meeting of the Marietta
Woman’s Club will be held on the
fourth Tuesday in August at the Y.
W. C. A. rooms for the purpose of§
electing a president. All club mem
bers are requested to keep this date
in mind and make an earnest effort
to be present.

On Sunday Misses Boatner enter
tained at a lovely dinner, inviting
twenty-six friends to meet their
guests.
On Monday evening the members
of the Epworth League Council were
entertained by Misses Boatner after
which a number of other friends
joined them for a delightful evening.
On Tuesday Misses Annie and
Edith Minor gave a luncheon in At
lanta for the house party and on
Tuesday evening a most enjoyable
swimming party at Davis’ swimming
pool was enjoyed.
On Wednesday evening Mr. and
Mrs. Lee McGainey entertained at
their home on Washington avenue in
compliment to Misses Boatner and
their guests.
Other pleasant affairs are being
planned in their honor later in the
week.

of Thomasville, Ga., were the guests
of Mrs, W. D. Crumbley, recently.

prize and Miss Marian Cox the prize

shoe pitching and other amusements
reminiscent of childhood and youth.
At noon a most delicious dinner
was spread from the well filled bas
kets of the guests.
A number of relatives from all
over the state were present and much
gratification was felt over the pres
ence of Dr. and Mrs. Fred P. Manget
and family, of China.
MRS. WATKINS GIVEN
LOVELY SHOWER
Mrs. Frank Watkins was compli
mented with a lovely shower at her
home on Waterman Street on last
Tuesday evening by the members of
the Methodist Philathea Class. Mrs.
Watkins, who is a very active and
useful member of the class, has been
confined to her home for several
weeks with illness and the class took
this means of conveying to this pop
ular member their deep regard and
their wishes for her speedy recovery.
Mrs. Gordon Gann, Mrs. Fred Bur
ton and Mrs. M. C. Frey were ap
pointed by the class to carry Mrs.
Watkins the gifts which included
many comforts for use in the sick‘
room.
