Mr. Jim Garrison, of Canton, was
in the city several days this week.
He accompanied the Gem City Band
of this city to Atlanta, where they
played in the Labor Day parade. Mr.

Mrs. Tilden Connor Entertains.
. Mrs, Tilden Connor entertained de
lightfully Thursday afternoon the
members of the Round Dozen 42 Club
with ten extra guests invited to meet
Miss Adele Carter.
The house was attractively decorated
with foliage plants and vases of roses
and other summer flowers. The score
cards were hand-painted pink roses,
and the ices and cakes were pink.
Mints were served during the game of
Domino 42, and at the conclusion de
licious sandwiches, tea, ices and cakes
were served.
Mrs. Connor received her guests in
a becoming gown of white mull and
lace. Her mother, Mrs. Saxon Ander
son, assisted her in receiving, and was
gowned in black and whitemull. Mrs,
John 8. Candler, of Atlanta, was
handsome in a gown of white mulland
lace.
Mrs. Connor’s guests included Miss
Adele Carter, Mrs. John S, Candler, of
Atlanta; Mrs. J. T. Anderson, Mrs. H.
S. Hall, Mrs. D. F, McClatchey, Jr.,

Brewer—Garnett.
An event of great interest, not only
in Marietta but throughout the State,
was the marriage of Miss Mary Ada
Brewer to Mr. D. Thomson Garnett, of
Atlanta, which took place at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N, A,
Brewer, 605 Atlanta street, at 8 o’clock
on Thursday, Sept. 2nd.
The maid-of-honor was Miss Esther]
Brewer. ' Mr. Reggie Ruff, of Atlanta,
was best man.,
Rev. J. H. Patton performed the cere
mony.
An hour later the couple left for At
lanta, from which place they left for
Los Angeles, Cal., on a three-weeks
wedding tour. They will visit many
other western cities before their return
to Atlanta.
Mr, Garnett formerly resided in Sa
vannah, holding a position as con
ductor on the Central of Georgia rail
road, but now resides in Atlanta, where
he holds a responsible position with
the Southern railroad.
Mrs. Garnett has spent many years
of her life in this city, but for seven
years has held a place with the Central
of Georgia railroad, at Wadley, Ga.
Among the out-of-town guests were
Miss Lillian Jennings, Miss Esther
‘Brewer and Mr, Reggie Ruff, all of At
lanta.
- The home was decorated with beauti
ful ferns and flowers.
The bride’s gown was a grey travel
ing suit, with hat and gloves tomatch,
- Many pretty and valuable presents
were received.
- On their return the happy couple
'will make their home in Atlanta, where
their many friends will welcome them,
\ That they may enjoy a long life of
happiness and prosperity, is the wish
of their many friends.

Mr. Walter D. Gable and Miss Laura,
Camp were married at half-past three
o’clock Sunday afternoon, at the resi
dence of Judge B V. Greer, who per
formed the ceremony. Mr. Gable iz
eonneeted with the electric light plant.
His bride is the attractive and popular
dauaghter of Mr. N. B. Camp. | Miss An
nie Watson wes the only-attendant.
The good wishes of many friends attend

Miss Brumby’s grandfather, A. V.
Brumby, was the first Colonel of the
14th Ga. Regiment. Her uncle, John
Wallace Brumby was a gallant Cap
tain in our service, Her father, Chas,
R. Brumby, was a Confederate soldier,
though only a boy, and her uncle, the
dashing James Clanton was a promi
nent General from Alabama.

Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Captain and Mrs. William J. Hudson
announce their golden wedding anni
versary, to be celebrated at the Sunday
school room of the First Baptist church
in Marietta on Monday evening, Sep
tember 27th, with reception from 7 to
10 o’clock. It was in 1859 that Captain
Hudson and Miss Virginia E. Curry
were married, and their life has been
singularly happy for half a century.
They have hosts of friends who will ex
tend congratulations and good wishes
on the occasion of their golden wed
ding.
