OLIVE SPRINGS.
Mrs. Mollie Simms is on & two
weeks’ visit to friends and rela
tives in Lithonia, Ga.
A delightful party was that
given Thureday night by Mr, and
Mrs. G. W. Daonn. A number
were present, and the occasion was
perfect in every detail.
‘Mr. J. W, White moves his fam
ily to Smyrra this week. We cer
tainly regret givirg up this family,
. Mrs. Albert Dobbins and little
m. Johnnie, have returned to
eir home in Msrietta, after
spending a week most delightfully
with her parents, Mr. and Mzrs. T.
T. Alexander.
Mr. J. M. Hanes spent Sunday

Rev. George Crow will fill his
regular appointment at this place

Alvis, the little son of Mr. and
Mre, J. A. York, is on the sick

The Sunday school rally at this
place Sunday was a grand success.
Had several nice speeches, recita
tion and fine songs. Mr. J. H.
Miller, of Marietta, made a fine
lecture on Temperance; Messrs.
Paul Camp and J, P. York made
fine and impressive talks on San
day School Work. The regular
singing was in the afternoon., A
large crowd attended from differ
ent sections of the country. Come
again and help us out in this good
work.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lang, of
Due West, spent Sunday in our
community.
Rev. V. B. White filled his reg
ular appointment at Maloney

WILEY'’S.
The Sunday school rally at Ol
ive Springe last Sunday was a
grand success and largely attended.
The school was opened by the su
perintendent, R. S, Lindley. After
the lessonus were gone through
with, the following little girls re
sponded to the call cf the super
intendent and made speeches:
Miss Eva Alexander, Mies Eva
Lindley. Miss Cola Mae Spiers,
Miss Mamie Smith, Miss Versie
Alexander, Miss Georgia Alexan
der and Miss Velma Smith. Com
positions were read by Mrs, R. S.
Lindley and Miss Faunnie Moore,
Mr. J. P. York also made a few
remarks in the interest of the
Sunday school, after which the
choir sang one song. Then Mr.
Miller, of Marietta, was called
for and gave a very interesting
talk, and urged the young people
to let whiskey alone. Rev. A, J.
McCoy made a good talk, and Mr.
Paul Kemp and Mr. T. J. Morris
gave good talks in behalf of the
Sunday school.
In the afternoon, the choir met
at the regular time with a large
attendance and rendered some fine
music. The leaders ‘were J. H.
York, D. B. Henderson, J, A.
A. York, Homer Flinn, A. D,
Hadaway, R. S. Lindley and
George Booth. In fact, we had a
good day in both Sunday school
and the song service, which will
be long remembered.

KENNESAW,
Mrs, Sam Ellis died Wednesday
evening, November 24th. She
caught fire in her home the previous
morning. Her body was almost
burned to a crisp. She suffered
greatly till death relieved her. Mrs.
Ellis was a devoted wife and moth
er. Her son, Dr. J. W. Ellis, had
done all he could to make his
mother’s declining years happy. It
was indeed a pathetic sight to see
the mother suffering so and the de
voted son powerless to help her.
The funeral was conducted at the
Methodist church Thursday by Rev.
W. G. Crowley after which the re
mains were interred in the cemetery
here. She is survived by her hus
band, four sons and three daughters
who have the sympathy of the en
tire egommunity in their sad bereave
ment.
~ Dr. Ivey Bivins, specialist of
Atlanta, was up Monday to see Mr.
Buck Gatlin who has been quite
‘sick. He advised Mr. Gatlin to go
to St. Joseph’s Infirmary, Atlanta,
for treatment. Mr. Gatlin was car
ried down Monday night.
The remains of Mr. Andrew" Sta
nley, who died from escaping gas in
his room at Memphis, Tenn., No
vember 21st, were interred in the
cemetery at New Salem. Mr. Stan
ley was well known here in his
young manhood and his tragic
death has cast a gloom over his
many friends and relatives. |
Mrs. Kate Cox was visiting in
Atlanta last week.

thrown to the ground early in the
fall by a horse and had been in a
fanitarium in Atlanta since, is able
to come on crutchers to his sons,

HIGHLANDS.
Thanksgiving day out here was
an enjoyable occasion, and will
be long remembered. A hasket
dinner was spread at the residence
of Mr. and Mrs J, W. Edwards
by the Pleasure and Profit sewing
circle. They had lots ef good
things to eat., The dining table
was decorated with ferns and pink
chrysanthemums. Almost all the
members of the ciub were present,
there were twenty-five. The vis
itors were Messre. .. A. Kirk and
R. M. Ware, of Atlanta: Miss
Florine Mell, of Marietta; Mr,
Tom Shockley and daughter, Miss
Fannie, of near Kennesaw; also,
Mr. and Mre. T. M, Hardage, of
Kennesaw. Mr. Hardage asked
the Thankegiving blessings on all
who- were present, and especially
the family who had so cordially
invited the crowd.

the Ciceronian Society enjoyed a
magnificent banquet given them
by Prosessors Hunt and Creel.
The society is flourishing and
every body is Invited to attend,

There will be a box Supper at
the College next Saturday night,
the proceeds to be used for the

Miss Mary McElreath one of
our most popular young ladies
has a flourishing school at Wes
ley Chapel in the upper part of
the County.
The Prayer meeting at the
College is well attended each
Sunday night, and is very in
teresting. The music is excellent
and we trust much good is heing
accomplished.
Mr. C. J. Estes and family
spent Saturday and Sunday with
Mise Estes’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs Roberts near Kennesaw.
Miss Laura ‘laylor has returned
home from Montgomery Ala.
Mrs. E. C. Petty will have a
sale Dec. 2ud and will move to
Smyrna in the uear future.
Everybody is glad to have Rev,
Geo. L. King returned to us as
pastor for another year*
Mr. Billie Hardage has a posi
tion with Mr. Henry Ward in
