Death of Mrs. W. J. Phagan.
Mrs. W. J. Phagan died at the fami
ly home near the city, on the Atlanta
rond, Wednesday afternoon at four
o’clock. She was attacked by acute
indigestion at nine o’clock Wednesday
morning, and daspite everything that
could be done for her, she passed away
at the hoar named
She was fifty nine years of age and
leaves her husband and nine living
children. Her children are Messrs.
Charles, Egbert, John, George, Har
well and William Phagan and Misges
Lizzie, Mattie and Ruth Phagan. Four
of her ehildren are dead.
Mrs. Phagan was a most exeellent
and greatly beloved woman and was a
member of the Christian chureh at
Acworth. The family moved to the
home on Atlanta road about two years
ago.
The funeral took place Friday at two
o elock and was conduected by Rev. Mr,
Adams, of Oakland City. The inter
ment was in the city cemetery. All
Mrs. Phagan’s ahildren lived with her
and idolized her and her death is a
most crushing blow to them. They
and all the sorrowing relatives have
the deepest sympathy of every mem
;her of the community.

Col. D. W. Blair was, at Monday
night’s meeting of the City Couneil,
elected a member of the Board of Edu
cation to fill out the unexpired term
of Capt. Boone, deceased. :
Col. Blair was once before a member
of this body, and has always shown a
deep interest in our publie school sys
tem. The choice of the council is ap
proved by the friends of the gchools
in the city.
