Mrs. Henry Wyatt, Mrs. T. M, Brumby,
Tr., Mrs, Fred Morris, Mrs. Will DuPre,
Mrs. E. P. Dobbs, Mrs. Cliff Dobbs
Mrs. Hoppe, Mrs. Patterson and Mrs.
starr. All these ladies were accompa
sied by their husbands and several
couples of chaperones danced with as
much delight as did the youngest de
putantes. Among the visitors were Mrs
smith, of Lynchburg, Miss Rogers, of
Macon, Miss Screven, of Savannah, and
Miss Cay of Jacksonville, a guest of
Mrs. Sullivan. There were about fifty
couples dancing and the scene was beau
yiful indeed with the pretty girls like
so many animated blossoms floating to
the strains of music. Grape-fruit punch
was served and a charming spirit
of sympathetic joy shone in the faces
of all present reflecting the radiance of
the happy bride who is listening for the
melody of ‘‘golden wedding bells,”
—Miss Grace Hawkins gave a party
Monday evening to her brother, Mr.
Harold Hawkins, in honor of his eigh
ieenth birthday. It was a pleasant
(qurprise to him. A great many of his
toung friends were present “and
rought suitable gifts. After music
and games delicious refreshments were
served.
—The Civie Improvement Club met
with Mrs. Crosby Monday afterncon
and decided to give a musicale for the
venefit of its good works. Miss Vir
ginia Crosby will be in echarge of the
entertainment. It will be at the
Armory on the evening of June 14th
and tickets will be sold by members of
the club, in the meantime. An even
ing of pleasure is assured all who
attend.

whom were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hol
combe and family, from Stone Moun
tain; Mr. and Mrs. T. W. McGarity
and family, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Gar
rett and /family, from Atlanta; Mr.
and .\ll‘s.(B. H. Bell and family, from
Marietta; Dr. Johnson, from Holly
Springs; Mr. and Mrs, T. W. Garrett,
from Roswell. A nice dinner was
served and all enjoyed the day.
--Judge Moses Wright, of Rome,
ciedidate for Congress, was in Ma
b.etta a short while Tuesday with per
sonal and political friends The Judge
says it is his intention to spend about
ten days in Cobb during the campaign,
at which time he will visit each militia
district and address the voters.
Miss Ella Edwards has resigned
ner position as bookkeeper for the
Singer Sewing Machine Company, and |
has accepted a similar position with

by a piece of steel a few days ago, and

was over at the court house early

Gordon Gann and have the young man
counted in the 1910 census.
—There will be preaching every first

every Sunday night at 7:30. A hearty

—Rev A. R. Bond pastor of the First
Baptist church, was deservedly honor
ed last week by Florence College, of
, Florence, Alabama, v hich conferred on
him the degree of Doctor of Divinity.
Dr. Bond preached the baccalaureate
germon last Sunday at Locust Grove.
—The graduation exercises of the
Bible Class tor women and girls of the
First Baptist church, of which Mrs.
Bond is the teacher, will be held Sun
|day morning at eleven o’clock. Mrs.
t Bond will make an address. A cordial

Mr. B. A. Butler and children, and
Mr. W. P. Mozley and family, desire

and death of Mrs. Buatler. Not only

of condolence will be treasured with
the memory of the loved one who has

Injured in a Runaway.
Mrs. C. H. Field, returning from
Walesca to Canton a few days ago in
a buggy with Mrs, William Heard,
was very painfully injured by the
horse running away and throwing her
out of the vehicle. Mrs Heard sus
tained even more serious injury, hav
ing suffered a severe scalp wound.
Both ladies are now improving, and it
is hoped will rapidly recover from
their injuries.

THE CLUTHIER
Death of Mrs. Nigh.
Mrs. Frances R. C. Nigh, wife of Mr.
George B. Nigh, died av her home on
Campbell Hill street Saturday after
noon, and was buried in the city ceme
tery Sunday afternoon. The funeral
services were conducted at the resi
dence, Rev. W. B, Dillard cfficiating.
Mrs. Nigh had lived in Marietta for
about twenty years, the greater part of
which time she had been an invalid,
bearing her sufferings all the while
with patience and uncomplainingly,
Besides a husband, Mrs. Nigh is sur
vived by a daughter, Miss Juliatte
Nigh, and to these the sympathy of
friends and acquaintances is extended.
