Mrs. H: € Dunlop and Mrs.
W. A. Mooney, of Atlanta, spent
several days in Smyrna, guests of
Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Johnson.
Miss Hallie Moore will entertain
Tuesday at hearts dice, in honor
of her charming and attractive
Ruest, Miss Luilene McGhee, of
Rome. About sixteen of Smyrna's
most popular belles have been in
vited to meet Miss McGhee,
Smyrna ball team crossed bats
with the West Atlanta last Sat
urday afternoon, and won the
game by a score of 14 to 4.
Smyrna still enjoys a building
boom. Several residences are go
ing up and others are to follow in
the near future.
Mr. and Mrs. FW. Dunlop
and children, of Birmingham,
Ala.,, are the guests of Mr. and
Mrs. W. N. Johnson.
Mrs. A W. Suttles left Tuesday
afternoon for Athens, where she
will attend the Rebekah State As
sembly during the session of the
Grand Lodge of 1. O. O. F.
Monday morning, Mrs. J. R.
Deavours entertained at an apron
shower, in honor of Miss Nell Pet
ty, of Atlanta, an attractive bride
elect of early June. The color
scheme of pink and white was
carried out in the decorations and
refreshments. The table was laid
with Irish.crochet mats, the center
being a bowl of fragrant pink
roses and the candle sticks held
tapers of pink and white. On the
arrival of the guests, each was
presented a card and asked to
write her favorite receipt, thus
contributing to a dainty cook
book for the bride. The hostess
was assisted in entertaining by
Mrs. J. H. Dunn and Mrs. Mary
Taylor. The invited guests were
Miss Hallie Moore, Miss Mabel
Timothy, Miss Hattie Davis, Miss
mazie Whitfield, Miss Rose
Mauck, Miss Grace Mauck, Miss

Miss Carabel Dunn was hostess
on Tuesday afternoon at a stock
ing shower given in honor of her
guest, Miss Nell Petty. The color
scheme of red and white was car
ried out in the decorations, the
dining room being a bower of red
roses. “A Progressive Marriage”
was played, the prize, a silver jew
elry box, was won by Mrs. Wey
man Conway. Dainty refresh
ments were served. Assisting
Mrs. Dunn in entertaing were

Douglasville to be with her son,

lie Moon was married ; not at Dal
las, as the type made it appear.
Mrs. E. H. Gibson and Miss
Ollie Gibson visited in Acworth a

The many friends of Mr. and
Mrs. Lynn Fitzgerald will regret
to know that Mr. Fitzgerald has
had to undergo an operation for
appendicitis at a hospital in Atlan
ta last week.
Dr. and Mrs. J. D. Lester spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John
ester, at IFairburn.
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Gatlin spent
Sunday in Atlamta.
Mrs. W. T. Boring, who has
been ill, is improving.

Mrs. John Robison entertained
in honor of her sister, Mrs. Jim
mie McCowan, of McLand, last
week with an elegant ice cream
supper. There was a large crowd
present. The table was beautiful
ly decorated with roses and ferns.
Mrs. Robison was a charming
hostess, and all expressed them
selves as having had a fine time.

tives in Mabieton last week.

domiciled in the Moore cottage.

department.

sometime with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. C. Buckley, in Mobile,
Alabama.
Judge T. C. Rosser and wife, of
Atlanta, are stopping at Hiawatha
Inn.
Misses Willie Fred and Louise

day afternoon.
Miss Joiner, of Atlanta, visited
her aunt, Mrs. William Strick
land a few days ago.
Mr. J. W. Myers and family
have moved to California.

Saturday afternoon, a week ago,
Mr. C. M. Tanner and Mr. J. L.
Miller, of Carrollton, in a new
auto, were crossing the Southern
railway, at this place, on the
double tracks ahead of an east
bound f{reight, when the west
bound fast mail caught the front
of the car and badly damaged it.
Mr. Tanner jumped as he saw the
danger, and Mr. Miller was
thrown from the car but neither
was hurt.
Oakdale ball team played the
Mableton boys Saturday. They
had a nice game, Mableton win
ning.
Mr. Chas. Barber was in Cal
houn last week.
Quite a number of our citizens
attended the annual all-day sing
ing at Union Grove Sunday 15th,.
Sunday was the all-day Sacred
Harp singing here.
Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Pitts and
Robert E. Lowe and little son
were among the visitors at Ma
bleton Sunday 15th, having come
out in the early morning in an
auto.
Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Barber and
Miss IFronie, from Smyrna, have
returned home, after visiting here.
Mrs. Mary Kendley spent Sat
urday and Sunday of last week
with her mother.

Mr. Joseph Gaines, of Atlanta,
visited home folks last week.
Mr. Edgar Mayes attended At
lanta’s Police Relief Association’s
Picnic at Warm Springs.
Mrs. W. H. Wylie, who has
been suffering with rheumatism,
is some better.
A mad-dog went to the home
of Mr. A. A. Mayes, while the
family was away last Sunday, and
killed, or so mutilated that they
had to be killed, nine fine hens,
two roosters and two ducks. Mr.
Langly, at Dold Springs, killed
the dog.
The little infant son of Mr. and
Mrs. L. F. Moon has been very
sick, but is much better now.
Miss Nelke Bentley visited her
cousin, Miss Ruby Benson, at
Llizabeth last week.
Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sewell, of
Atlanta, visited her mother and
father, Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Ham
by, Sunday. .
