The Fountain Head of Life
A man who has a weak and impaired stomach and who does not
properly digest his food will soon find that his blood has become
weak and impoverished, and that his whole body is improperly and
insufficiently nourished.
Dr. PIERCE’'S GOLDEN MEDICAL DISCOVERY
makes the stomach strong, promotes the flow of
dlflgst!ve juices, restores the lost appetite, makes
assimilation perfect, invigorates the liver and e
purifies and enriches the blood. It is the great blood-maker,
flesh-builder and restorative nerve tonic. It makes men
strong in body, active in mind and cool in judgement.
This ‘‘ Discovery’’ is a pure, glyceric extract of American medical roots,
shsolutely free from alcohol and all injurious, habit-forming drugs. All its
ingredients are printed on its wrappers. It has no relationship with secret
nostrums. Its every ingredient is endorsed by the leaders in all the schools of
medicine. Don’t accept a secret nostrum as a substitute for this time-proven
remedy OF KNOWN COMPOSITION. ASK YOUR NEIGHBORS. They must know of
many cures made by it during past 40 years, right in your own neighborhood.

at the Rifles’ Armory
June Ist.
The last number of the Lycéum
Course, the Apollo Concert Company
and Bell Ringers, under the auspices
of the Marietta Rifles will be given
on June Ist, when the Quinteetee,
headed by Mr. Arthur Wells, will ap
pear. Mr. Wells is a cultured musi
cian, an expert on the bango, saxa
phone, mandolin and guitar, with a
professional experience of sixteen
vears. Miss Margaret Puckett is a so

passed among Lyceum attractions, and
within herself is regarded as well
worth the price of admission. Mr.
G. E. Holmes, is a renowned cornet,
trombone, flute and saxaphone musi
cian, and one of the celebrated com
posers of band and Orchestra music,
with more than one hundred ce'ebrat

R. Wells is an accompanist of merit,
whose numbers are rendered with
marked expression of skill and taste.
Mr. Clay Smith, the renowned and
celebrated guitar and trombone solo

by any other in his line, being equal
within himself to a full evening recit
al, with never a dull moment. He now
owns and uses the trombone which
won first prize at the St. Louis Ex
position for tone, quality and fimish.
This beautiful instrument is of 18
karat gold.
The Rifles have made very little out
of the course, and those who are hold

speak a good word to their friends who
have not been so fortunate as to pro

Visit to the Orphans’
Home at Decatur-
Last Saturday Mrs. Cater chaperon
ed a few members of her Sunday
School class on a visit to the Orphans’
Home at Decatur. This class is called
the Helping-Hand Cluband has for its
officers—President, Jack Gignilliat;
Vice-President, George Teipel; Treas
urer, Brantley Crawley; Secretary,
John Dillard. Other boys in the party
were Roy and Simp Jackson, Clarence
Delk, George Baker, Moultrie Puckett,
Harry Looney and Marie Looney.
Jack Gignilliat sends this account
of the trip:
“‘The first thing we did was to go out
where the swings were and we played
there until they rang the church bell.
Then all the children marched into
church and had a prayer and sang
some songs and the minister preached
a fine sermon about talents. One had
five talents, another two talents and
another one talent. Then he told
about two women, one rich and the
other poor. After church we had our
nner on the grass like a picnic,
“In a few minutes a little girl came
out of the door and rang the dinner
bell. Then we went inside the build
ing and watched them march into
their places and when they got there
they all stood behind their chairs and
waited till the blessing was asked.
Then a little bell was rung and they
pulled out their chairs and sat down
tth eir dinner. Then we went out and
waited till they got through and then
we played ball till time to go home.
“They have a house for the blind
and a house for the lame and a house
for the boys ind a house for the girls,
In one of the buildings they have a
big play-house for the boys. Also
they have a big dairy and a good
many cows and horses and buggies
and they raise all their vegetagles
themselves. The girls do the house
wort de the boys do the outside
work,

| By George . Stuart.
Rev. George R. Stuart will lecture at
the Armory Saturday evening, May
¢Bth, for the benefit of the Methodist
Baraca Class. Mr. Stuart is one of the
most popular platform speakers in the
country and his lecture on *‘Lop-Sided
Folks’’ is famous.
The Atlanta Journal says:
““For years Rev. George Stuart was
with Rev, Sam P. Jones in the evan
gelistic work, and was a good match
for that marvelous reformer and
preacher. Mr, Stuart is a remarkable
man. His wealth of thought and ex
pression is surprising. His words
barst from his soul like a great tor
rent from its mountain source and
sweep over his crowds, stirring them,
moving them, uprooting them., He is
wise in the choice of illustrations and
master in their use. Sam Jones’
genius was never better displayed than
in the selection of this gifted and elo
quent Tennesseean for his associate.’’

MISS MARY ANNIE DUNN,
A Sweet Flower Born on Earth to
Blossom in Heaven.
A dainty bit of cloudlet,
So soft and pink and white,
Was her beautiful face,
When e'er it met our sight.
Her lips were like the poppies red,
Her teeth a row of pearls,
And the soft and silky corn tops,
Were like her dark brown curls.
Her voice was full of music,
Learned from the angels’ choir,
Of harp and lute, and cymbal,
And the sweet-toned silver lyre.
Her breath was like the incense,
That fills God’s courts above,
And is sent to us in flowers
As tokens of His love.
Like lillies were her fingers,
Tinged with the blood red wine:
She was only just half human,
The other half divine.
We really think the angels
Must have sent her down this way:
Or perhaps they may have lost her
When busy at their play.
It was a tender dewy evening
Of the month of roses, May,
When the angels came from heaven
To usher her that way.
When she heard the trumpet call, |
The clouds were rolled away, ‘
She sang, “I Am Going Home to
Glory,”
In the good old-fashioned way.
Like a flood of golden showers
The bright sunshine burst through
When she reached the Shining City
Through the skies 8o soft and blue.
Now she rests in the arms of Jesus,
The Saviour who is on high;
With Christ, and the angels,
She’s waiting for you and I |
A SINCERE FRIEND.
