ing of Brumby Street--Reports
For Month.
REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
OCTOBER 3RD, 1910.
Present: Mayor Clay and full Board
of Council.
Minutes of regular meeting of Coun
cil held September sth, 1910, and call
meeting of Council held September
22n4, 1910, read and approved.
On motion made by Mr. Read, and
seconded by Mr. Gantt, the following
resolution was adopteds
“Whereas, The Brumby Chair Com
pany has made its application to the
Mayor and Council of this city to close
and change Brumby street which appli
cation has been filed and notice there
of given by publication in the Marietta
Journal and Courier of said city, in
accordance with the ordinances of this
city; therefore,
“BE IT RESOLVED; That author
ity is herby given to the said Brumby
Chair Company to close said Brumby
street from the west line of the
property of Mrs. Dewald, which is
situated on the north side of Brumby
street, westwardly, to the intersec
tion of Brumby street, with Campbell
Street, and that in lieu of said section
of street so closed, the said Brumby
Chair Company open upon its own
property, a section of said street be
ginning at the west corner of the
property of said Mrs. Dewald, on the
north side of said street, and running
along or near the water pipe line of
the city of Marietta, and along a route
as already opened and laid out by
said Brumby Chair Company in a cir
cular direction to a point in Camp
bell street, south of the branch, and
at or near the northwest corner of
the property of said Brumby Chair
Company, and that said street 80
opened shall be in lieu of that part
of said street which is hereby author
ized to be closed.
“Permission is given the said Brum-!
by Chair Co., upon the opening of
said new street, to close, use and oc
cupy wiat closed part of said street,
as it may see fit and proper.”
Councilmen Gantt, McEachern and
Black were apointed a committee by
the Mayor to look into the matter of
Gober & Griffin's fee, and to report
at the next meeting of the Council,
On motion of Mr. Black and sec
cnded by Mr. McEachern, the follow
ing resolution was adopted:
“That in the opinion of the Mayor
and Council, the = street known as
Brumby street, between the Howell
property, branching oif from Kenne-
Saw avenue to the Brumby Chair
Company, makes a dangerous railroad
crossing and should be closed for two
reasons; first, that the crossing s
dangerous, and second, to close the
strect in the rear of the Brumby
Chair Company, it renders that street
practically useless, and that the Mayor
call a special meeting to consider
same after proper advertisement has
been made.”
Reports of Treasurer, Clerk, City.
Marshal and Sexton were read and ap
proved.
Motion made by Mr. Carter, and
Seconded by Mr. Gantt, That the City
issue Mr. McEachern vouchers, one
for $375.65, and one for $701.00, and
vouchers for all amounts he has paid
the City for him to hold receipts as
Chairman of Sinking Fund. Motion
carried unanimously, -
The Sinking Fund Committee is ap
pointed by the Mayor to get all bond
coupons, the ones that Mr. McEachern
and Mr. Roberts have, and destroy
them, a record to be kept of what is
destroyed.
Motion made by Mr. Gantt, and sec
onded by Mr, Carter, That the Sink
ing Fund pay the City of Marietta
$541.40 on the amount which they
owe the city, amounting to $2,500.00
Which leaves a balance due the city
by Sinking Fund of $1,958.60. Motion
carried unanimously.
Finance Committee appointed to
look into the present status of the
City's finances, and report at the next
regular meeting of Cowncil.
The Clerk is requested to write
Superintendent Bayless and call his
attertion to the condition of the
affairs of the railroad vard, and state
in this Jetter that unless something is
done, the Council will have to take
action upon it, and the Council will
act on it the 14th of October, .
Motion made by Mr. Carter, and
seconded by Mr. McEachern, That
the following accounts be paid, as ap
proved. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Mr, Gantt, and sec
onded by Mr. Read, That the Mayor
appoint a committee to look into thej
question of bicycles for the police
men. Motion carried unanimously.
Councilmen Gantt, McEachern and
Carter were appointed as Committee
by the Mayor to look into the bicycle
question. ;
On motion made by Mr. Gantt and
seconded by Mr. Carter, the Council
adjourned subject to the call of the
Mayor.
