Had a little shower last week—
about enough to settle the dust
and make everybody feel better.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Caldwell
left last Monday, the 26th, for
Frankfort, Ky., where they will
visit friends and relatives.
Mrs. William Johnson and Mrs.
W. T. Pace took in the exercises
to Birmingham last week.
Little Billie Magill had the mis
fortune to stick a needle under the
toe of his left foot about two
weeks ago. The needle broke off
in his foot but did not give him
any trouble until last week, when
the doctor was called in and cut
it out. More than half a needle
was taken from the ball of the lit
tle fellow’s foot. He is doing
nicely now.
Mr. and Mrs. James R. Ridley
are home again after a prolonged
tour through Texas and Arkan
sas.
Mrs. Fannie Adams, of Cal
houn, is visiting her sister, Mrs.

NEW SALEM.
The service here Sunday was
largely attended and all the mem
bers were revived by the meeting.
Rev. J. J. Crow preached the
eleven o’clock sermon and Rev.
Mr. Spinks the three o’clock. Each
delivered a very interesting ser
mon. The choir furnished good
singing for the day.
The members of New Salem
Church will meet at the church
next Sunday morning to choose a
pastor for another year.
Mrs. Lucinda Martin left Mon
day for Forsyvth county where
she will spend the winter with her
brothers.
Mrs. Emma’ Rice, of Atlanta,
spent Saturday and Sunday with
her mother, Mrs. M. M. Alexan
der.
Mr. J. F. Darby and family vis
ited in Marietta a few days ago.
The visitors here Sunday were
too numerous to mention.

OLIVE SPRINGS.
Mrs. R. S. Lindley, who was
operated on at Dr. C. T. Nolan’s
sanitarium in Marietta three
weeks ago, was able to be brought
home Friday. Her many friends
are pleased to note a decided
change for the better in her phys
ical condition.
The trustees of the literary
school met Saturday and elected
Prof. Lewis, of Powder Springs,
and Miss Mazie Whitfield, of
Smyrna, teachers for the ensuing
year. We feel that these teachers
iwill give good satisfaction.

An entertainment will be given
Thursday night, Sept. 6th, at the
residence of Mr. W, D. Parris, for
the benefit of the Sunday School of
Kirk's Chapel. There will be good
music and ice eream and cake will
be served. No admission will be
charged. Everybody invited.
Cotton picking is the order of
the day in this community. The
cotton crop will be 'short, how
ever, owing to unfavorable weath
er conditions throughout the year.
Several from this community
attended the all-day services at
New Salem last Sunday.
We have a good literary and
social society, which meets on
Saturday night before the first
and third Sundays of each month.
Our Sunday School continues
to flourish with an attendance of
about seventy to eighty each Sun
day. :
The Sunday night prayer meet
ing will be held at the chapel
