HAVERTY WILL MOVE
Furniture Company to Oc
cupy Larger Quar
ters on Square.
The Haverty Furniture Company has
leased the large Northcutt building on
Public Square North, formerly occupied
by the Carnes Furniture Company and
will move into it by July ist. ik
The building at the corner of Chero
kee and Lawrence streets now occu
pied by the Haverty Company, has
been leased by the Merchants’ andJ
Farmers Bank and will be fitted with
a vault and other bank fixtures. A
part of the building on Lawrence
street will be occupied by Willie
Rosen.
Mr. J. J. Haverty, of Atlanta, the head
of the big Haverty syndicate, was in
Marietta one day this week and spent
the day with Mr. Hall, manager of the
Marietta store. They went over the
plans for greatly extending the bhusi
nees in this city. ‘
The building now in use has been far }
too small, and Mr. Hall has long d@-
sired to get the Carnes building, which
wiil give him five times the space
which he now has. With increased
space, a much larger and more varied
stock will be carried. Mr. Hall will add
a grade of goods that will make Hav
erty’s compare with the fine furniture
houses in Atlanta and make it unnec
essary for any one to go away from
Marietta to get anything needed either
in furniture or in fine rugs, mattresses,
etc. The limited space now available
hag made it impossible to carry as
large a stock as was desired,

Editor Marietta Journal and Courier:
Dear Sir—Some time in January I
bought one of the little Swift 1904
Clothes Washers. 1 find it to be such
a great help that I decided to write
this to your paper with the hope that
it will induce some of my friends to
try one of the washers. It is a per
fect success; and does:all the agent
claims for it. 1 can dosmy washing in
half the time without 'any hard work.
Everybody ought to have one of
them, so they would not have to both
er with washerwomen. .
Yours truly,
MRS. J. D. FULLER.

lost his life while bathing at Tybee

far out he was and found the water so
deep he became nervous and after

Aawhile began to call for help. He was

. breakers were making so much noise
. that the parties on shore could not
' hear his calls. Mr. Hunt finally at
~ tracted attention by waving his hands

State of Georgia—Cobb County.
To Whom it May Concern:
Notice is hereby given that applica
tion will be made at 10 o’clock a. m.,
on July 15th, next before His Honor,
Judge N. A. Morris, at the court house
in Marietta, Georgia, for leave to sell
for the purpose of re-investment, that
parcel of land situated in said county
of Cobb, described as follows: "
Lot No. 10 of the W. W, McCollough
survey of the Burwell .Atkinson prop
rerty, desecribed and bounded as fol
lows: A part of lot of land No. 744 in
the 17th District and second section
of Cobb County, Georgia, commencing
900 feet south of the north line of said
land lot No. 744 at the northwest cox:
ner of said lot No. 10, thence running
east 344 feet to the Marietta and At

said road 100 feet to the southeast
corner of said lot No. 10, thence west
334 feet to the southwest corner of
said lot No. 10, thence north 100 feet
to starting point.
The reason for selling said property
for re-investment is that it is vacant
and yields no income whatever, not
even enough to pay the state and
county taxes yearly assessed against
it. It is not desirable to improve the
same for investment purposes and the
undersigned’s ward has not the means
for so doing. It is desired to invest
the proceeds from the sale of said
property in certificates of the Atlanta
Oil and Fertilizer Company, a per
fectly solvent corporation which will
vield 6 per cent. per annum on same.
It is desired to sell said lot at private
sale and an order for that purpose will
be asked, as above.
