KENNESAW.
Mr. Lewis Morgan died at the
home of his son, Mr. 1. S. Morgan,
near Acworth. Monday morning.
The funeral and interment took
place here Tuesday.
A tenant house at Mr. B. F.
Greer’'s, and occupied by Louie
Heath, colored. was burned Monday
morning with all its contents. The
fire started in the cogk room.
- Miss Lola W. Milner, of Barnes
ville, spent Tuesday with her bro
ther, Mr. R. B. Milner.
Mr. R. B. Milner spent Saturday
in Atlanta.
Mrs. Lizzie Boring, Master Olin
Ellis and sister are visiting Mr. and
Mrs. Jessie Fowler at Elizabeth.
Mr. J. W. Bennett went last week
in his mew Ford car to visit his
daughter, Mrs. J. H, Williams, at
Cedartown, and his son, Mr, J. W.
Bennett, Jr., at Wellington, Ala.
Master Jack Williams, of Cedar
town, returned home with his grand
father, Mr. Bennett, and spent a
‘dew days.
Mrs. W. P. Whitaker and children
are visiling relatives at Royston.
Mrs. Burt Hilderbrand spent Sat
urday in Atlanta.

Tenn., was a recent visitor to friends

Mrs. Charles Jackson, of Gads
den, Ala., is visiting her parents,

Mr. R. J. Brooke, of Plainview,
Ark., visited Mrs. Lizzie Brooke and
Mr. W. F. Tripp. Mr. Brooke left
Cherokee county 42 years ago, :mdl
this is his first trip back to Georgia.

ton of Marietta will preach the com
mencement sermon at eleven
o’clock Sunday. The Marietta
Presbyterian choir will also be here
to furnish music.. Monday night
there will be an interesting play,
and Tuesday night the graduating
exerciges. Their are eight gradu
ates in all,
Miss Flora Rogers, who bas been
teaching in Georgia has returned
home and will spend vacation with
her father, Rev. J. A. Rogers, and
sister, Mrs. Minnie Correy.
Several from here attended the
Union singing at Mt. Olivet, Sun
day.
Mr. Alonzo Summerhill, of near
Dallas, spent Sunday with the fam
ily of Mr A. A. Griggs.
The many friends of Misg Ethel
Dobbs are glad to have her home
again from Wesleyan College,
Macon.
We are still dry; not having had
a season during May, but it is
thundering now and we think the
long wanted shower will come to

The singing here Sunday after
noon was not very largely attended,
but there was some good singing.
Prof. Luther Moon was present, also
Messrs. Grady Moon and Starling
Blackwell.
Messrs. . P. Hames and John
Meclntyre, of Marietta, spent one
day last week with Mr. ‘Charles
Mackey and enjoyed a good old
fishing trip.
Miss Mabel Hames spent Satur
day night and Sunday with Miss
Mamie Mackey.
Mr. S. W, Webb and son, Joe,
spent Sunday with his father, Mr.
J. M. Webb, who is very sick at
his home in Powder Springs.
There is some one who is doing
some clever thief-work in this com
munity. Several report robberies
committed in the last few weeks.
Rev. Mr. McCollum will fill his
regular appointment here Saturday
and Sunday. Every body come
out and hear him and also come
to Sunday School.
The singing at W. H. Tedfords
Sunday night was enjoyed by a
large crowd.
This community was well repre
sented at the singing at Decatur
and all report a good time and
plenty to eat. EUREKA.

Wikie, of Gilmore, spent Saturday
night and Sunday with the family

The singing given at Mr. Me-
Neely’s Sunday night was enjoyed
by a large crowd.
Mrs, Edwards, of Dawson county,
has been visiting her daughter, Mrs.
Wilikie, here for the past two weeks.
Mr Lem Gufiin and sister, Miss
Ella, speat Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Clackum, of Elizabeth.
Tk_xere will be anice cream supper
at Shady Grove Saturday night
week, May 20th. Every body is
invited to_ come out. The proceeds
will be for the benefit of the church
and Sunday School.

i On the 4th Sunday in June Rev.
Mr. Dillard will dedicate the new
church here at 11 o’clock a.m. and
Rev. Nath Thompson will preach
at about 3 o’clock.
Mr. Dillard is too well known to
need any introduction to the peo
ple with whom he has mingled for
three years. Those who have not
heard Mr. Thompson have missed a
rare treat. He has a style that is
all his own and in a great many
i respects he is the equal of the late
Rev. Sam P. Jones. You will be
pleased to hear him.
Everybody invited to come and
spemf the day and bring some
thing like a basket or box well
filleg to help make the occasion
more pleasant.
A special invitation is extended
to every one who contributed to

Rev. Mr. Lippham will fill his

Rev. Mr. McCannahan. now of
Atlanta, filled his appointment here
Sunday and made quite a lot of
friends as well as a lasting * impres
sion for good.
We are glad to note that mea
gles have about subsided in our
community and the whooping
cough has about gone through and
neither has caused a death, though
some of the children have suffered
a great deal with the eroup.

Booth, of Olive Springs, and Billy
Hardage of Marietta, among the
leaders of the singing choir here

Mr. Frank Boren mowed those
fine oats for Mr. C. E. Kimberly,
and he declares he could only see
the mules ears above them. You
can’t get away with Frank and Mr.
Kimberly will show oats with any
body.
Little Miss Roberta and Master
Mack Brown, of Atlanta, are spend
ing some time with their aunt, Mre.
Nesbitt.
Messrs. Grove Huckabe, J. T.
Gasaway and Will Cabe killed thir
teen very large copper belly snakes
on Col. Nesbitt’s farm in one
week. They say Tom Bird and Eb
Maddox would have killed some,
too, but their feet just would not
let them stay there. Can old Lost
Mountain beat that, Allen?

DUE WEST.
Died. Mre. J. G. Joblowski, a
daughter of Mr. T. J. Helton, of
this place, died in Atlanta last
Saturday. Mrs. Joblowski was well
known in this community and was
highly esteemed by all who knew
ber. She was a faithful member of
the Baptist church. She leaves a
husband and several children be
sides a large number of friends to
mourn her death. The funeral was
conducted at Mount Olivet, last
Sunday, in the presence of a large
gathering of friends. We extend
our sincere sympathy to the be
reaved family.

Miss Ella Kemp, of Acworth, is
spending some time with her
brother, Mr. C. A. Kemp.
Mrs. Bennett, who is living with
her son-in-law, Mr. Lem Dempey.
is confined to her room with dropsy.
Mr. Jim Cantrell, who is well
known in this section is critically
ill at this writing with appendicitis
at his home in Cherokee county.
