PREPARATION FOR FINE SHOW
AT COGBURN PARK.
Fair Will Start On October 3d and
Continue Four Days—Many
Features of Interest.
Cobb County Fair will be held at
Cogburn Park next week, beginning
Tuesday, October 3, and continuing
four days, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday.
The outlook is that the Fair will
be a fine success as much interest is
felt in it and many excellent dis
plays are being prepared.
There should be a large attend
ance by those who would like to see
the prize products of the Banner
County of Georgia.
Plain Dick Russell has been invit
ed to attend the Fair Wednesday,
IZ)_p_e Brown Thursday and Governor
Brown Friday. Their replies have
not yet been received.
Mr. J. Gid Morris expects to col
lect at the County Fair a number of
articles that will be taken to the
State Fair at Macon as a pagt of the
County display,
Mr. Morris will load the cars for
State Fair at Belmont Friday. He
appeals to the farmers to help him
out. He will gladly pay for all pro
duets that he can use and they should
be sent to him at Belmont on Wed
nesday or left at the store of Mayes
Brothers in Marietta, where they
will be paid for.

The County Fair Premium List
has been amended by the omission
of several ‘“‘additional premiums’’
printed at the end of the list but the
following additional premiums are
announced by Mr. Cogburn:
For the best individual exibit of
corn and cotton, and other farm
products, One number 8 Planet Jr.,
Cultivator, with a set of sweeps,
given by S. L. Allen & Company, of
Philadelphia, Pa. Value of same
$14.00.
For the second best individual ex
hibit, One two horse turning plow
given by Benson Brothers & Co.,
Marietta Ga.
For the third best exhibit One
$5.00 rocker, given by the Brumby
Chair Co. .
For the largest hog, any kind,
One $5.00 parlor table, given by the
Marietta Chair Co.
If any one who does not want to
make an exhibit has any thing fine
that they would like to have shown,
will drop me a card [ will come and
get it and pay them a fair price.
Every one lend a helping hand
and let us make this one of the best
County Fairs that has ever been
held in this county. We will guar
antee to show you something that
you never saw before and perhaps
never will again. Its an opportuni
of your life. ~

The New Year of the Sunday
school of this church begins October

Mr: L. Pfeffer, a representativei
of two prominent Jewish newspapers
of New York, who has an office in
Atlanta, was in the city a few days
ago, a guest of Mr. Willie Rosen.
Mr. Pfeffer's visit was to investi-.
gate conditions in Marietta and
Cobb ecounty in regard to their
fitness. as homes for the poorer
classes of Jewish immigrants.
Mr. Rosen took the visitor on a
tour of the city, showing him the
factories and ‘the farms near town.
Mr. Pfeffer was very favorably im
pressed with the advantages of
Marietta and Cobb county.

The State reunion of Confederate
Veterans will be held next year in
Marietta. The old soldiers at their
Reunion in Rome were invited by
Miss Regina Rambo to meet in this
city and quickly accepted the invi
tation. Judge John W. Maddox
was elected Division Commander.,

The Young Buffalo Wild West show
will exhibit in Marietta, Tuesday af
ternoon and night, October 10. The
aggregation is a large one, numbering
as it does over 700 men and women—
many of whom have eamed interna
tional repute for their skill and dar
mg.

FUNERAL OF GRADY JOHNSON.
The funeral of Mr. William Grady
Johnson. whose violent death so
shocked his friends, was conducted
by Rev. Gus Bond Saturday morn
ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.
P. Johnson. The interment was at
Maloney Spring cemetery. The
pall-bearers were his cousins,
Messrs. Newton Hicks, Lawrence
Hicks, Inus Johnson Cleveland Hicks
and Messrs. Daniels. .
