SUNDAY, MAY 12, WILL
BE "MOTHER'S DAy
Second Sunday in May Set
Aside by Nation to
Honor Mothers.
May 12th, the second Sunday in May
has beeh set aside by the nation' as
Mother’s Day, in honor of the best
mether that ever lived—your mother.
The object of the day is a world-wide
emphasis of the love and reverence men
and women owe to a good mother.
No nation is greater than its moth
ers. They have ever been the most
loyal, self-sacrificing of patriots. Their
influence has inspired the superbest
paintings, the loftiest literature, the
sweetest songs, and the noblest achieve
ments. From slumdon to palace, a pure
mother weilds a supreme sceptre.
True motherhood evokes homage of
every clime, country, class, creed, and
its world-wide honoring will light the
flame of brotherhood in stranger and in
foe.
The observance of the day; Honor
your mother, or her memory, through
some distinct act of kindness—a visit, a
letter. Live this day as your mother
would have you live it. Have her as
your guest of honor. Write her a letter
of praise and gratitude. If she be not
living, in glad recognition of her work,
gladden the heart of some other moth
er. Stamp the day with kimdness.
Wear a white flower, preferable a
white carnation—it is Mother’s Day
special flower. Its whiteness stands
for purity; its form, beauty! its fra
grance, love; its wide field of growth,
charity; its lasting qualities, faithful
ness. Give one to some one else to
wear—remembering the sick and unfor
tunate in hospitals, homes and prisons.
Make the gay known in churches,
Sunday schools, day schools, colleges,
fraternal organizations, and societies,

@/4 It will be hard for you to believe that the superb beauty 193
7'«, and bewitching loveliness of the laces and embroideries we g ¢
have previously offered could be surpassed, but never-the
less, it is true. It seems that every day fashion calls more
strongly for laces. We are amply prepared to supply you
_now but the demand is extremely heavy. The very newest of
Parisian productions in Ratine and Macrame Laces are here.
They were rushed to us by express from New York as soon
as received by the American importers. Wide edges and in
sertions, with prices that will close them out quickly.
: Ever popular Cluney Laces in all widths up to 12 inches.
That the price is right on these is enough to say.
All-over Laces in Baby Irish and Macrame—the most
beautiful we have ever offered. : :
The price on all our Laces and Embroideries is the point
we want to stress. You will have to come to the store and
see the goods to appreciate the prices.

Executive Committee and a
Few Friends Entertained
in Whitman Style. l
Last Thursday. just after the demo
cratic executive committee had <:omaoli;1
dated and announced the votes of Cobb‘
county, they were invited by Judge
Gann to a barbecue in the Marietta res
taurant. The county and city officials
were also invited and between 50 afid
75 of Judge Gann’s close friends. The'
barbecue was delicious, prepared by
Mr. J M. Whitman in his best style,
and was a delightful surprise to the
guests.
Judge Gann has been elected ordinary
for the second time without opposition
which is equivalent to his choice by the
county being unanimous. He has been
as near perfect an ordinary as can be
imagined. Although his duties are tax
ing in many ways and he has many pet
ty trials and vexations he is always
dignified, courteous, patient and kind.
These good qualities are highly appre
ciated by ladies who have to transact
business in the ordinary’s office. Judge
Gann proves himself a gentleman, not
by pretty speeches but by real helpful
ness and gentle patiencc with every
woman who comes to his office with
tribulations. If women could vote he
would hold his office forever without
opposition.
