A COBB COUNTY BOY |
WRITES OF WASHINGTON 1
1
Dear Boys: :
They are building a new Post Office’
up here next to the Union Station andl
you can stand in one of the Stations and(
watch them work. I saw one man
standing on top of the structure driv-‘
ing a spike, not holding to any thing. |
One day last week a man fell from this
place to instant death. Another man
was standing on the ground and the
pulley on the crane fell an his head and
kilied him. I saw three men drawn to
the top of the building on the crane
pulley. There will be a passageway |
from the Post Office to the Station that
they will carry the mail through from
the Station to the Post Office.
I have told you all I have seen down
at the Post Office now I will tell you
about the Senate Office Building where
all the Senators have their offices.
They have a man to sit at a desk and
tell the visitors where the Senators
Offices are. They have brass elevators
and the Senators ring three times and
when they ring times the elevator man
has to stop where he is and go back
for the Senator and take him where he
is going. Then they have a subway
from the Senate Office Building to the
Capitol, and from the Capitol to the
House Office Building, which is just
like the Senate Office Building.
The hall in the left side of the Capito
is called the Senate wing, and the other
side is the House wing. The Senators
meet in the Senate wing and the Con
gress men meet in the House wing, and
in the middle the Supreme Court meets.
They have a Dome in the Capitol that
one can go up in and look at the city.
It is not quite as high as the Washing
ton Monument, but you can see all the
ity from the top. Justunder the dome
1s the rotunda with large paintings such
‘as the Discovery of the Mississipi and
‘other great paintings; on a little further
s the Statuary hall where they have
life size statutes of the great men of
the Country such as Washington, Jeff
erson, Webster and Lee.
Frances Willard is the only woman
in the hall. ;
I will have to close for this time as it
is a pretty day and I am going to take
a walk.
COBB COUNTY BOY.
OBITUARY. :
Little Alice, the 11 year old daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. H. 8. Arrington,
of Smyrna, quietly passed from this
life to her reward on the 18th instant
This beautiful little girl was just
recovering from a prolonged spell of‘
sickness when she was suddenly tak-:
en with a very severe illness that‘
soon ended in her untimely demise.
The real nature of the disease that
resulted in her. death puzzled her
friends and placed some uncertainty
in the minds of the physicians who
attended her.
Alice was the only daughter of
‘Mr. and Mrs. Arrington who have a
‘host of friends and relatives living
;at Kennesaw. She was a lovable little
girl and was often the subject of
icomplimentary remarks by reason of
‘her sweet and womanly disposition.
What seems to be a loss to her dear
ones here is only a gain to those
sweet angels who welcome her to that
larger and better life where pain and
sorrcw are unknown.
Her remains were taken to Ken
nesaw and there laid to rest with
others who have gone before.
The good people of Smyrna joined
the good people of Kennesaw in many
deeds of kindness in token of the
love and esteem which they hold the
family whose loss is most sorely felt.

LIFE’S STRUGGLE
Mrs. Stewart Tells How She
Suffered from 16t045 years
old—How Finally Cured.
Euphemia, Ohio.—‘“ Because of total
ignorance of how to care for myself
when verging into womanhood, and from
taking cold when going to school, I suf
fered from a displacement, and each
month I had severe pains and nausea
which always meant a lay-off from work
for two to four days from the time I
was 16 years old.
. “Iwent to Kansas to live with my sis
ter and while there a doctor told me of
the Pinkham remedies but I did not use
them then as my faith in patent medi
¢ines was limited. After my sister died
I came home to Ohio to live and that
has been my home for the last 18 years.
“The Change of Life came when I was
47 years old and about this time I saw
my physical condition plainly described
in one of your advertisements. Thenl
began using Lydia E. Pinkham’s Veg
etable Compound and I cannot tell you
or any one the relief it gave me in the
first three months. It put me right
where I need not lay off every month
and during the last 18 years I have not
paid out two dollars to a doctor, and have
been blest with excellent health forawo
woman of my age and I can thank Lydia
' E.Pinkham’sVegetable Compound forit.
. “Since the Change of Life is over I
} have been a maternity nurse and being
- wholly self-supporting 1 cannot over
l estimate the value of good health. I
have now earned a comfortable little
‘ home just by sewing and nursing since
' 1 was 52 years old. T have recommended
the Compound to many with good re
sults, as it is excellent to take before
- and after childbirth.”’—Miss EVELYN
