. Mr. Charlie Bowen died at his
‘ home in Atlanta on the 12th of July
‘of a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Bowen
!was formerly Miss Etta Rogers, of
Marietta and has many friends here
'who will be grieved to hear of her

~ Miss Jean Wallace gave a dinner
Monday evening in honor of Miss
Laura Margaret Hoppe and her
guest, Miss Marguerite Blakeley. The
table was decorated with red crepe
myrtle the place cards'in that color
and the first course was chilled
water melon. The dessert included
ice cream served in dainty canta
loupes and the entire dinner was de
licious. The young men invited
were Messrs. Stanton Read, Herbert
Dobbs, Niles Trammell and Foreman.

MISS CLAY TO ENTERTAIN

Miss Evelyn Clay has issued invi
tations for the 20th of August, to a
garden party in honor of Miss Irma
Johnson, of Boston, Mass., who will
arrive in Marietta next Saturday.‘

weeks with her, 1
Next Tuesday evening a number of
Marietta young men will give a
dance in the auditorium of the
Black Building complimentary to
Miss Clay and Miss Johnson and on
Thursday evening Mrs. Herbert Clay
will give a dance for these two very
charming girls. {

Mrs. E. B. Freyer gave a dance
Wednesday evening in honor of her
sister, Miss Agnes Reese. Orches
(tral music was furnished by a -,
band and all the first floor was
thrown together for the dancers.
A very large party enjoyed the dance
and the delicious ices and cake.
Punch was served by Julia and Mar
garet McNeel and Engarcia Freyer.
