OBITUARY, |
New Salem Baptist Church,
June 1, 1913.
No one knoweth the value of a
true Christian friend until once the
angel of death has swept#one tro‘
our presence. No one can‘'realize the
weight of importance that such a
person has upon the unmistakable
improvement of our Christian proced
ure. They are of far more value to
us than gold or silver or precious
stones of incalculable value. Yes,
of far more value than all the riches
of this beautiful world of ours com
bined. Words are inadequate to ex
press the great importance of such
lives in the world. We cannot prize
them too highly. And how exceed
ingly momentous it is for us to live
80, and to be such, that we comge in
touch with such people, proving by
all of our actions that we are beyond
guestion a friend to the lowly in
spirit !
In the life of Brother G. W. Redd,
who departed this life April 18, 1913,
was portrayed one of the most beau
tiful characters. He had been a mem
ber of the Baptist church 61 years,
and served for a number of years as
a deacon. He was always ready to
stand up in the defense of right, and
his presence and counsel wil be miss
ed in the church and community.
But we bow in submission to Him who
doeth all things well,
Brother Redd was 67 years old,
and leaves a wife and eight children
to mourn his death; and the church
extends its sympathy to the bereaved.

brethren and neighbors. He was the
very soul of honor and uprightness.
He leaves several children and
grandchildren to mourn his death.
He is sorely missed by his brethren.
His example and influence will be
