Miss Fannie Glover is spending a
few weeks in Baltimore.

Mrs. E. I. Welsh and Miss Lois
Welsh left Saturday for a months
visit to Mrs. Welsh’s daughter in
New Orleans.
Mr. J. Guy Roberts, who has re
turned to Marietta, is at home with
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Black and shares
the office of Judge N. A. Morris.
Mr. R. W. Moon has recently paint
ed his residence on Washington Av
enue and made a neat concrete bor
der with white marble posts around
the front lawn so it harmonizes witn
Mr. Ward's place next door.
The music-makers at the armory
Friday evening were delightfully
refreshing. They have a very fine
program and seem just like a quar
tet of talented boys entertaining
home folks instead of professionals
en tour. Mr. Huff, the leader, was
especially captivating with his genu
ine good humor.
Mrs. Hague, of Smyrna, celebrated
the second birthday of her pet col
lie, Queen Bess, last Sunday by hav
ing 14 of her small neighbors coms=
and visit her during the afternoon.
She read some of James Whitcomb
Riley’'s poems of childhood to her
guests and gave them dainty refresh
ments.
Mrs. Owen Johnson entertained
her 42 club Thursday afternoon using
carnations and spring flowers in
profusion, Beside the club her
guests were Mrs. Charles Gilmore, of
Chicago, Mrs. Willis Milner, of At
lanta, and Mrs. S. H. Hall. After
the game strawberry ice cream &hd
white angel-food cakes were served.
In confomity with the season the
new models are riotous in color,
made mostly of Leghorn, Tussan,
Italian and plain Milan, Italian and
plain Hemp, set high on bandeaux
and massed with flowers, feathers
and loops of ribbon at the upturned
side, or adorning the scoop at the
back, and these are shown at Miss
Allgood's.
Robert Harris has won a speak
ers’. place in the Freshman Class at
Emory College which entitles him
to contest for a prize in declamaticn
next commencement. There were
seven judges of the contesting speak
ers and every one voted in favor of
Robert. He is the son of Dr. and
Mrs. E. L. Harris and has already
won a gold medal for oratory and
is a boy to be proud of, being “first
class” in every way.
Miss Annie Field is recovering
from the injuries received when her
sadde-horse fell with her two weeks
ago. She was bruised and one foot
and knee badly hurt, so she is still
unable to walk. However, she has
been able to hold an almost contin
ous reception of girl friends and her
room is filled with flowers of all
kinds daily by her many admirers.
