The death angel visited our com
munity on April 28th and claimed
for its victim the sweet gentle spirit
of Mr. H. J. Burgess, aged 72. He
had been affilcted for many years,
yet he bore his afflictions with chris
tian fortitude. He realized that he
was too wise to err and too good to
do wrong. We feel that no tribute
that might be uttered could do jus
tice to the true excellence of his
character or add to the sacredness
of his memory.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
He has been a consistant member
of the Baptist church for many years
and died in that faith. He leaves
a devoted wife and five children,
Mrs. Riley Hall, Messrs. Sam and J.
H. Burgess, Mrs. James Elliott and
Mrs. Essie Coleman, besides a host of
friends to mourn his death. He was
laid to rest in Malony Springs ceme
tery on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. 8.
E. Cassidy conducted the funeral
services in the presence of a large
host of friends and relatives. We
extend to the bereaved ones our sin
cerest sympathy.

Mr. John Pritchard spent the week
-end in Chattanooga.
We are in deep sympathy with Mr.
Charlie Wright, of Lost Mountain, in
the death of his wife. May the Lord
graciously sustain the bereaved hus
band and his dear little children.
Mrs. Wright was well known here.
To know her was to love her. Min
nie always made an impression for
good wherever she went. Her life
was an inspiration to all who knew
her. As her life was very beautiful,
so her end was peace. We feel since
life has passed that Minnie has joined
her parents on the other shore where
they are now reunited and happy
once more.
