in Arcadia, Fla. Mr. Kerley is the
Manager of the De Soto hotel.
Miss Nellie Ray Wilson, had as
her guest for the week end, Miss
Maude White of Atlanta.
Mrs. B. H. Veal, entertained the
members of the Civie League, at their
last meeting. After the business
was attended to refreshments were
served. The next meeting will ba
at the home of Mrs. J. M. Westmore
land.
Miss Louise Westmoreland was a
recent guest of friends in Atlanta.

Atlanta to be the guest of friends
till after the “Shriners’ meet,
The Young Matrons sewing club
was entertained at the home of Mrs.
J. W. Strickland the past week. After
the time for ‘“fancy work’ was over
dainty refreshments were served.
Ben-Scott hotel is decorated with
Shriners colors. The late Mr. W.
E. Shelverton, was the only member
of this order in Austell until since
his death. We now have Messrs.
Albert Harington, Winters and Ma
ther. These have gone to Atlanta te
take part in the exercises

S. B. Smith.
Mother’s and children’s day exer
cises will be held at the Methodisi
church, next Sunday. A splendid
program is being arranged for the

Miss Gertrude Crow entertained
several of her friends Saturday night
with a party at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Crow.
Several fiddlers present and some
good music rendered and everyone
spent the evening most enjoyably.
The occasion being Miss Crow's 19th
birthday and her many friends hope
she may live to enjoy many more.just
such birthdays.
Gladys, the charming little daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. York, who
has been very sick from indigestion
for some time is thought to be soma
what improved.
Grandmother Brown has becn very
sick the past week.
Mr. W. H. Clay and family spent
the past week with Mrs. Clay's fa
ther, Mr. David Land, at Hiram.
Jolly Jack wonders when ‘“Bill
Burns” will visit Marietta again.
Not soon, we think, unless to find his

Mrs. W. J. White who has been
confined to her home some time witn
rheumatism, was able to attend ser
vices on Sunday.
Mr. Clarence White and wife, of
Atlanta, will be at home with Mrs.
J. L. Clay and Miss Maggie Clay.
Mrs. Louella Dawson is able to be
up but not able to walk yet without
her crutches.
Mrs. Emma Garner and family, of
Atlanta, spent Sunday with Messrs.
E. W. and J. W. Thomas, motoring
up in Mr. Garner’s new car, and sev
eral of our young people enjoyed a
good ride to Marietta in the after
noon,
Lillie Mae, the beautiful little
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Morrison, was real sick the past
week but we hope under the treat
ment of Dr. J. T. Vansant, of Mari
etta, she will be well again soon.

The qnarterly conference was
very well attended last Friday and
the congregation enjoyed an excel
lent sermon by Rev. G. W. Duval, of
Marietta.
There was a very large attendance
at the memorial service last Satur
day. Rev. W. H. Cooper preached at
eleven and there were interestine
talks in the afternoon by Rev. Rut
land and Hall, Col. Walter McEl
reath and Judge Nash Broyles, cof
Atlanta.

reunion last Friday. Cicero says
it was as hot down there as August

small pox, but is on the road to ro

we are sorry to note.

Messrs. J. J. Adair and family and
Gordon Crowder and family, of Mt.
Olivet, spent Sunday with Mr, W. M.
Hamilton’s family.
Mr. Roy Osborne has purchased a
new Ford auto.
Mr. T. J. Helton, who has beer
confined to his room with fever for
some time, is still very weak, but
the fever has broken. His large
circle of friends hope for him a
speedy recovery.

Ed Hill was attended by a ' large
crowd and highly enjoyed by all
present,
James, the 5 year-old son of Mrs.
Mac Lutz, was running and playing
last Tuesday evening and fell and
broke his leg above the knee. Drs.
Elder and Hagood gave the needed
attention and le is resting easy at
this time.
Mrs. L. H. Day spent last week in
Jacksonville, Fla,
Mrs, L. Lutz has retarned from At
lanta.
Mrs. Lassie Caldwell, of Stone
Mountain, is visiting her mother,
Mrs. Summerhill.
The farmers in this section have
about finished planiing and are ready
to fight general green. Guardens are
not very good.

Lee Bryant had the misfortune to
accidently shoot himself in the side
Sunday afternoon while handling a
rifle. Dr. Bannister put him in a
car and rushed him to Dr. Nolan for
treatment. He sat present resting
well and we trust that he will soon
be out again.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Brown are the
happy parents of a fine little daugh
ter,
Mr. Jeff Dobbs, Mr. Lee McCleskey
and Mr. McCollum spent a few days
in Jacksonville last week.

move back to our little village.
