from a pleasant trip to Tallulah
Falls and other points.
Mrs. W. Beatie entertained a num
ber of her school mates on last Tues
day night. The house was beauti
fuily decorated in pot flowers. Quite
a 4 nice time was nad by all present.
Mr. P. W. Suggs and daughter,
Miss Mary, have returned from a
most delightful visit to Washington,
D. O, et Vernph's ¥a | Nigoann
Lalls, Rochester, Buffalo, and New
York City, and spending a few days
in Pennsylvania, stopping in Greens
boro, N. C., on the rteurn with the
sister of Mr. Suggs.
Austell was well represented in
Rome at the tuneral of Mrs. Wood
row Wilson. Among those attend
ing the funeral were Mr. and Mrs.
H. C. Brown, Mrs. J. M. Strickland,
D. H. Goodwin, Mr. and Mrs. J. M.
Westmoreland and Miss Louise
Westmoreland and Miss Minnie Har
rington. The flag at the school
house was at half mast all day and a
number of people were at the depot
to see the train pass through. Every
one seemed to feel a sadnes for our
President.
The death of Mr. Alfred Davis on
last Monday night was a surprise
to many. Although in feeble healtnh
for some time he was up on Satur
day afternoon and in town. He was
taken that might, and gradually
grew worse, passing away on Mon
day night. He was eighty-four
years old., and leaves besides his wife
and- several children @a. host of
friends who sympathize with them
in their bereavement. He was buried
with Masonic honors in Rose Hill
Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Henry L. Ozburn went to At
lanta on Thursday to meet her aunt,
Mrs: W. M. Harbin, from Jackson
ville, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. James Curcton spent
Thursday in Atlanta.
Mrs. A. Shamron Young and Miss
Aunnie Thomas were attendants of
the Merchant’s harbecue on Thurs
day.
Miss Jessie Drown, one of Smyr
na's most beautifvl young ladies was
the wo2ekend guest of the Misses
Westimoreland.

Mrs. Harriet Lamb, of Augusta, is
visiting relaitives at this place.
We had some fine singing at this
place last Sunday afternoon. Profs.
J. Guy Beall and Bennett were with
us and will be with us again next
Sunday afternoon. Let everybody
come out and hear them.
News is scarce this week. The
farmers are all done work and gone
peddling and the women are about
done canning and going visiting.
The health of our community is
fine.

Kennesaw last Wednesday roceived
1 bad bruise by his horse jumping
and striking him on the leg. Dr. El
lis gave medical aid.
Mr. Allen Camp, who died last
Friday near Smyrna was well known
in this section. He was a consis
tant member of the Primitive Bap
tist church and had been for a num
ber of vears. His remains was laid
beside his wife who went on six
vears ago. The funeral was held
last Saturday at New Hope church
in Paulding County.

HOME COMING AT ACWORTH
Tuesday was a great day in Aec
worth. Former residents came from
Atlanta and several smaller towns
and lots of country cousins added
to the throng. Al the politicians of
Cobb county appeared beaming with
smiles and cordiality. Rev. J. H. Pat
ton invoked the blessings of therr
Heavenly Father upon the assembly.
Col. Joe Abbott made the address of
waolecome and Mr, Simeon Smith, of
Tallapoosa, responded. Mr. Wilbus
Colvin was master of cercmonies.
“Home Swect Home” was sung
by a guartette of male voices, Solos
by ladie and at noon a barbecue din
ner was served. ‘Marietta men were
plentiful every where and among the
ladies from the Gem City were Mrs.
Littie Henderson, Mvs. J. %. Foster,
Mrs. E. H. Northcutt, M. Georgn
Roberts, Mrs. Sam Grogan and Mrs.
Badgett, who is at Locust Lodze,
