Judge John Awtrey, who nas been
examining and passing upon titles
to land in North Georgia as special
attorney for Uncle Sam in cases
where the government is investing
in land for the Appalachian Forest
Reservation, has been transferred
from Blue Ridge to Clayton where
he will be for the present.

Mr. Marcus Harvie Field an
nounces the engagement of his
daughter, Annie, to Mr. William
Magruder Brumby, the wedding to
take place in October.
KENDRICK—HOPKINS,
Miss Pauline Kendrick and Mr.
Horace Hopkins were married Sun
day Sept. 12 at the Rose Lane Baptist
church at noon by Rev. Langley, of
Atlanta. They will be at home with
the bride’'s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. C. Kendrick. They have many
friends to wish them much happi
ness.

A pretty home wedding of the
past week was that of Miss Mattie
Lou Terrell and Mr. Herbert Wil
liams, of Marietta, which took place
at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at
the home of the bride,
The house was beautifully decorat
ed in green and yellow. The guests
were received by Mrs. W. P, Whit
worth and Mrs. J. M. Frix. Rev. W,
S. Keith, of Calhoun, officiated. The
bride’s sister, Miss Florine Terrell
played the wedding march. Miss
Nettie Iranklin and Miss Florine
Terrell served punch in the dining
rcom where many beautiful and
handsome wedding gifts were shown.
The bride wore a dark blue travel
ing suit and blue velvet hat.
Mr., and Mrs. Williams left for At
lanta at 4 o’clock and will make
their future home in Athens, Ga.—

TO MRS. CHASE.
The rook party at which Mrs. John
Wood was hostess on Thursday after
noon at her home was a lovely com
pliment to her guest, Mrs. Inman
Strong Chase, of Marietta.
The rooms were thrown together
and decorated with pretty vases of
dahlias and salvia. The score cards
were hand painted, the color scheme
being carried out in green and red.
A delicious salad course was ser
