Mr. Judson Stanley has returned
to Marietta after several months in
South Georgia and is again at his
post of duty with the Marietta Jour
nal. He is welcomed by many friends
and is glad to be here again.

ed from Andelusia, Ala., where they
joined their father in a visit to M-,
G. W. Adams. Mrs. Reynolds is
expecting her father to spend Christ
mas here and then go to Florida
for the rest of the winter.
A WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Florence cele
brated the eighth anniversary of
their marriage on Thursday evening
with a turkey dinner. Their guests
were Dr. J. H. Patton, Dr. Rembert
sniith, Dr. C.D. Blder, M¥r W. A
Florence, Mr. T. W. Read, Mr. F. M.
Bruce, Mr, Sam Grogan, Mr. T. L.
Wallace and Mr. Carl Barnes. A
very happy evening was spent.

nesday cvening at the manse by Dr.
J. H, Patton with Mr. and Mrs.
Dempsey Medford as their only at
tendants.
The ceremony took place at six
o'clock and immediately afierward
the bridal pair went to the home of
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Florence to din
ner and to spend the evening.
They are at the Whitlock House
and are receiving felicitations from
their many friends. The bride is
one of our prettiest young ladies and
one of the valued salesladies in the
W. A. Florence store where Mr. Cow
an is in charge of the shoe depart
ment,
BAZAR ON FRIDAY.
The ladies of the First Baptist
church will have a bazar in the new
Manning building on Friday Dee.
3rd. Besides the pretty and useful
things for sale hot chocolate, coffee,
wafers and cake will be served.

A preaching mission will be held

MISSIONARY RALLY LUNCHEON.
The Woman’s Missionary Society:
of the Presbyterian Church has is
sued invitations to the ladies of their
congregation for a Missionary Rally
Luncheon in the Sunday School room
Monday, December 6th, at 11 o’clock,
Mrs. Archibald Davis, of Atlanta,
the president of the Georgia Synodi
cal, will be present to give a talk.
There will also be some talks by
members of the society and a musi
cal program.
1t is hoped that these features will
help to strengthen the forces of
the society—to increase the number
of workers, and to give greater zeal
and enthusiasm to the old members.
The luncheon will be the social
feature. This meeting is to take
the place of the monthly meeting ol
the committees.
A THANKSGIVING DINNER.
The Rome Tribune-Herald reporis
a Thanksgiving dinner served by
Captain Thomas B. Mathis at his
country home in Floyd County ia
which everything except the choco
late, coccanut and sugar in the cakes
and the cranberries and celery were
produced on his farm,
The menu was: roast turkey, fried
chicken, roast goose, quail on toast,
fried rabbit, barbecued opossum, fried
squirrel, boiled ham, chow-chow aad
peach pickles, celery, cranberries, jel
dles and preserves, pumpkin pie, po
tato custard, relishes cocoanut cus
tard, pound, chocolate, jelly and co
coanut coke, sweet milk, coffee, but
termilk, home-ground corn meal
bread, home-ground wheat biseuit
and light rolls.
The celery could have grown on
his farm just as well as the sweet
npotatoes did but it was a notable
dinner indeed.
MR SHEFFIELD ENTERTAINS.

icale on Thursday evening to a num
‘ber of friends. Mr. Sheffield, Mrs.
ißessie Scott and Mr. Boyd Parris
furnished the music which was very

Mrs. Chas. E. Newell has been the
guest of Mrs. George F. Newell for a
week at the Kennesaw House.
Mr. and Mrs. B, ¥. McDonald are
at the Hotel for the winter.
Judge Thomas, of Valdosta, Ga.,
spent a week at the Hotel during
the November term of court.
Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Trammell have
returned from a month’s visit to
Chattanooga.
Mrs. George F. Newell is in At
lanta visiting Mrs. W. B. Crouch.
Mr. and Mrs. George H, Keeler are
expected here from California this
week and will spend some time at
the Hotel before opening their home
on Forest Avenue.

LUNCHEON CLUB.
Mrs. Joseph M. Brown entertained
the Round Dozen Luncheon Club on
Tuesday. The table had a silver
loving-cup of Lady Hillington roses
in the center and on each end a vas?
of Christmas roses sent from Main 2
where they blossom in the snow. The
place cards were adorned with yel
low flowers and a delicious meal ot
four courses, including roast turkey,
was served.
Miss Allie Candler came with Mrs,
John S. Candler and Miss Laura
