I'ne many rriends of Mrs. Ruth
Young Morris will be pained to hear
of her death, which occured at her
home in Virginia on Jan 15th. Mrs,
Morris was the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. T. J. Garmon, and grang-caugn
ter of Mrs. L. M. Scott. She lived
in Austell for a number of years,
was a pupil in the school until her
wedding. By her gentle ways and
lovable disposition she had made for
herself many friends at this place,
she was an active worker in the
church. Her health had becn fail
ing for some time, hoping to benifit
her, her parents carried her to Vir
ginia. She is survived by mother,
father and sisters, her husband hav
ing died about two years ago. We
extend to the sorrowing reldatives our
sincere sympathy
Miss Lois Matchell, of Villa Rica,
was the guest of her cousin, Mrs. J.
H. Pair, the past week.
Mrs. T. O. Humphries entertained
the Civic Club at her home on Fri
day afternoon. The house was pret
tily decorated with ferns and palms
for the occasion. After the social
hour, a delightful salad course was
served.
Miss Ethel Douglass, of Atlanta,
visited her uncle, and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Simpson, the past
week.
Mr. Otto Braumeuller, of New
York City, was the guest of Dr. and
Mrs. J. W. Westmoreland, during
the past week.
Mrs. J. E! Russell has returned
from Dalton, where she visited her
son who is attending school there.
Mr. J. W. McCreedy is visiting rel
atives in Tampa, Fla.
Mrs. H. C. Mather has returned
from Memphis, Tenn.
Mrs. C. S. Anderson left for Huntz
ville, Ala., to be the guest of her sis
ter for several weeks.
¢ Mre. B. H. Veal and Miss Lucy
Veal have returned from an enjoy
able visit to Atlanta. They wgre
the guests of Mrs. T. D. Strickland,
a recent bride, at her first at-home
day, Feb. Ist.
Mrs. E. A. Rose has closed ‘‘Rose
Cattage’, for the remainder of the
winter, she left for Mo®ile and Dem
opolis, Ala., where she will be the
guest of her son and daughter.
Mrs. L. M. Scott, after an extend
ed visit to her daughter, Mrs. Har
ralson, of Montgomery, Ala., is home
again.
Mrs. J. M. Cureton is confined to
her bed with a severe attack of bron
chitis. She is better, we are giad t.

next Sunday. Some one will be ex
pecting you, please don’t disappoint

the sutden death of Dr W. D
Wright was flashed over the wires
He was widely known as a sate ¢oili
selor by his many friends. Y. was
practicing physician for 20 years
and had been a consistent member of
the Presbyterian church for 2 num
ber of years. He will be sadly miss
ed as a doctor a neighbor and a citi
zen. We deeply deplore his untim=-
ly death and extend our heav: felt
sympathy to all the bereaved.
Mr. A. H. Cash and daughter,
Mrs. A. C. Aderhald, of Atlania, and
Mr. J. D. Cash and wife, of Gilmore,
attended the funeral Saturdaey aftev
noon.
Mr. O. C. Kemp spent Friday night
with his sister, Mrs. Rollie Ward, of
Atlanta.
Mr. W. M. Hamilton and family
spent Sunday with his brother, Mr.
H. F. Hamilton, of Macland.
Mr. C. A. Kemp has put in a cakle
feed saw-mill at his machinery.

LOST MOUNTAIN.
Our community was shocked last
Friday morning at the sudden death
of Dr. W. D. Wright. He had been
out and doing his mornings work,
he came in and told his wife he was
not feeling well. She gave him some
medicine and did what she could to
relieve him. In a short time he Tell
back in his chair unconscious. breath
ed only a few times and passed
away. Dr. Nolan had been summon
ed, but did not arrive until after
Dr. Wright was dead. Heart trouble
was the cause of his death. He had
been practicing medicine here for
more than 30 years. He was very
successful and had built up a large
practice while for the past few years
his health had failed him and had
almost quit all but the office prac
tice.
He was g faithful member of Mid
way Presbyterian church, he prae
ticed his religion every day, he ad
hered strictly to the principles of
honesty both in his practice and in
his business. He did much charit
able work in his practice. He was
67 years old, a man that was wortn
something to our section of the
country and his death will be a great
loss. He leaves a wife and one son
and one daughter, Charlie Wright of
thiz place and Mrs. Charles Strick
land, of Atlanta. Mr. Charles Strick
land and wife, Mr. Eleec Cash, and
wife, of Atlanta and Mr. Davis Cash
and wife of Carmichael, attended Dr.
WD, Wrights funeral Saturday.
The funeral was held Saturday at
2 o‘clock by Rev. E. D. Patton. The
deceased was laid to rest in Midway
cemetery.
The entire community feels a pro
found loss in his death and join in
sympathy with the family.
Miss Monnie Lee Thackston has
been elected assistant teacher of the
school here.
Miss Nannie Kemp spent a few
days last week with her brother at
Senoia. i
Why not send one or two farmers
to the legislature to represent uvs
next time. Time about is fair play.
Our population is largely farmers.
Why not have a representation?
On last Thursday morning the
thermometer registered 13 degrees at
the station here, just the same de
gree as the previous cold spell here.

Mr. J. W. Bennett passed peac--
fully away at the hotel Saturday
morning in his 72nd year. Mr,
Bennett had lived here all his life
and was the son of Mr. Solomon
Bennett. He married Miss Mittie
Chalker who died in 1904. His only
son, Mr. Will Bennett, died Novem
ber 3rd, 1913. His only daughter,
Mrs. J. H. Williams and his grand
son, Mr. J. O, Williams, of Cedar
town, his half sisters are Mrs. Muet
Guess, Miss Annie Bennett and bis
half brother, Mr. Pink Bennett are
the only near relatives. 'The funer
al was at the hotel Sunday after
noon conducted by Mr. Speer and
Rev. W. BE. McCollum. Those at
tending the funeral not respdents
here were Mrs. Addie K. Johnson,
Mr-J. M. Hunt, Mr.. C. H. Raherts,
Mrs. Jim Adams, Mr. and Mrs. T.

Mrs. M. B. Adams, Mrs. Elic Scroggs
and Miss Mamie Mcßea, who have
the sympathy of the entire communi-

discussion to which all the ladies of

other crop, as guano is so high, they
have decided to use less guano and
see if their pocket books will not he

the writer in his young school days
and we found him to be a very in
dustrious and intelligent boy.

A wedding of much interest was
quietly solmenized at the home of
Rev. Gaddis, of Acworth, on Sunday
afternoon Feb. 6th, when Miss Etheld
Austin of this place and Mr, Clif
ton Carlile, of North Marietta were
united in marriage. The bride is
the second daughter of Mr., and Mrs.
M. S. Austin and a young lady of
sweet disposition and a lovable char
acter, and has many friends who ra
gret to lose her. But wish her much
happinesg in her new life,
The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. R. C, Carlile and is worthy of

friends attended the ceremony.

have gone to North Carolina, where

ing eleven subscribers has just been
connected with Woodstock, Ga., ex
change of the Southern Bell Tel &
Tel. Co. This line extends five
miles east of Woodstock and furnish

The connection of this line with
their Woodstock exchange is another
step in the development of Farmers
lines in this section by the Southern
Bell. As a result of the very mode
rate cost of such service, farmers all
over the State are installing teles
