“We'll talk it over with Mexico
some more, /
““A little more patience, and a lit
tle more watchful waiting. Of
course there will be kicks. There
will be kicks from the owners of
big Mexican properties, kicks from
manufacturers of war materials,
kicks from war contractors and kicks
from the republicans, but there will
be no kicks from the fathers and
mothers and sweet hearts of the
young men who would have to do
the fighting down in Mexico. There
will be no kicks from the great si
ient body of peace-loving Christian
people of this nation who think it is
& bigger thing to help Mexico than
to frail Mexico. Those who think
it is more noble to suffer wrong than
it is to impose force on an inferior
people.
““Maybe the President has not
chosen the best thing from a politi
cal standpoint., We believe it would
be popular to send an armed force
into Mexico with instructions to slay
right and left. It would be popular
for a time with certain big newspa
pers and big business interests whose
help in the approaching election
would be worth a great deal. But
the President has already said that
he would do what he thought was
best for the whole people even if it
should cost liim much politically

expressed it on an occasion, that he
“would rather be right than de presi
dent” a second time,
“We all lose patience with Mexico
occasionally. ;
“There are times when it looks as
if a sound thrashing might do her
good, and yet, it is the burden of
the civilized to be patient and for
bearing with the fellow who has not
advanced out of the mire. It is oftsn
more effective to encourage the re
calcitrant to put forth their own bet
ter self and rise by their own efforts
than it is to frail reformation into
them. There are those in Mexico
who dream of better things. . They
are not perfect leaders, but they are
doing the best they know and the
best they can with the haundicaps
they have about them. To all such
we can afford to be a big brother.

troubles with Mexico through diplo
matic channels, and if a remedy can
be found that will protect our berder
and our own people against the rav
ages of the bandits and murderers,

DRUG STORE TO W. A. SAMS
Mr. W. A. Sams this week pur
chased the Marchman Drug Co., and
again becomes proprietor of the cor
ner Drug Store that has borné hias
name before. Mr. Marchman in tura
becomes proprietor of the Gem and
Strand Theatres and some real estate
and has taken charge of the picture
shows.
Mr. Marchman says that he will
renovate the Strand and put in an
up to date cooling system and re
open it, probably closing the Gem.
He added a large number of friends
to his already large list while he
owned the drug store and these will
be glad to know that he will still be
in business where their patronage
will be appreciated by him.
The same high class feature pic
tures wili continues to be shown at
the Strand.
