Miss Pauline Schoenthal has dis
posed of her millinery goods and
household furniture and has gone
to Atlanta to be with relatives. She
will be missed in Marietta by many
sincere friends.
Mr. George Perschau has return
ed to Wilmington, N. (~ after
spending the holidays with his wife
at the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. C. B. Willingham, where
she is recuperating after a severe
illness.
Mrs. George Griffin entertained
at dinner on Tuesday evening for
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Florence, Miss
Odene Florence, Miss Mary Jane

the show was served.by a group of
pretty girls including Misses Hooper
and Frances Wikle, Jean Wallace
and Mrs. Jennie Joymner.
Mrs. N. M. Mayes complimented
her niece, Athalene Bishop, with
a tneater party on. her birthday,
Dec. 29th and chaperoned the fol
lowing little girls to the Gem: Lu
cile Camp, Freddie Chewning, Eli
zabeth Northcutt, Helen Warld,
Jean Clark, Sarah, Louise and Ath
alene Bishop, and little Cnarles
Hamby. After the show refresh
ments were served in an ice ¢ream
parlor. Many dainty gifts were
bestowed upon Athalene who is very
popular among her school mates,

DANCE AT SITIO.
The Christmas dance given for
Miss Roselyn Amorous was a cnarm
ing event that lighted the glow of
goed fellowship 1 many youthful
bosoms. Although rain beal Turi
ously on the window Panes it did
not drown the music to whica youth
chased the glowing hours wita
flying feet and the rosy school girls
were all looking theip brightest and
best.
Miss Isabel Amorous wore white
will o' the wisp marquisette with
tiny frills edging tne wide flounces.
Miss Roselyn Amorous wore cream
embroidered net with ruffles on the
skirt, a blue satin girdle and tiny
garlands of pink rose-buds and blue
forgetmenots.
Miss Janice Amorpus ‘was like
a La France rose in pink taffeta
silk, with pinked ruffles on the
skirt, and waist and overdress of
crepe de chine the same shade.
Toere were open wood fires in all
the rooms and the wide enclosed
living porch at the back of the
house was radiant and sweet with
profuse decorations of pine boughs
and banners of red crepe paper. The
musicians were in the back hall
and dancing was enjoyed in tha
front parlor and tne living-room al-
SO.
Fruit punch was served from a
round table in a corner of the
dining-room which was covered
with tiny red baskets of Nunnally’s
bon-bons. Sandwiches were served
from long-handled willow baskets
lined with white doilies. All the
kirls were as protty as May Blos
soms with their rosy faces and
sparkling eyes and the youthful
beaux were as happy as only boys
can be at the age when hearts can

winds are whistling beyond the
snining window panes.
Mr. Amorous, Mrs. Bamford and
Mr. and Mrs. Stokes assisted the
young people in having a very
charming evening.
MRS. SETZE NEW YEAR
RECEPTION.
Mrs. E. J. Setze and her daugh
ters, Mrs. W. R. Joyner, and Misses
Addie and Molliz Setze, were most
agreeably surprised Saturday even
ing when between 30 and 40 of
their friends called to wish them a
happy new year. Miss Addie Setze
and Mrs. Davenport, who is spend
ing the winter with her had been
warned of the reception and were
prepared but Mrs. Setze and Miss
Mollie were taken by surprise.
When all the married . couples
had arrived, greetings had been ex
changed and every one was beam
ing with tha sweet spirit of the
season, Dr. J. H. Patton arose anad
made a brief address in which he
mentioned tihe obligations Marietta
felt to Dr. Setze for the years of
his tender ministration as a physi
cian and the kindness nnthingi
could ever adequately repay bestow-]
ed upon us by his wife and daugh
ters.
Everyone felt it was a privilege
to show somé measure of apprecia
tion of this good doctor’s beneficent
life by cherishing the loved ones
he had left.
Mr. J. J. Black and Mr. Wilder
Glover had suggested that Marietta
friends give Mrs. Setze a shingle
shower for a new year’s pres2nt and
two immense auto trucks had come
into the yard loaded with them. ‘
A delicious chicken salad course
with coffee was served by Mrs.
Wilder Glover, Mrs. Ed Hunt, Mrs.
Bolan Brumby, Mrs. Tom Wallace
and Mrs. Herbert Clay, and a de
lightful evening was spent by all.

A CHRISTMAS TURKEY .
Mr. and Mrs. A, A. Bishop served
a Christmas turkey dinner on Sun
day to a family party.

and all the minor decorations sug
gested the holiday season. The

MRS. WALLACE'S DINNER
Mrs. T. L. Wallace gave a tur
key dinner on Monday evening that
was especially beautiful in a color
scheme of pink and green.
A pink chinese azana was used
as a center-piece, the flower pot
wrapped in pink crepe naper and
tied with green tulle. Pink and
green tulle bows were on the lights,
the mints were pink and greeT and
salted almonds were in pink bas
kets. ‘Green sherbert was in tae
ice tea and the pink ice cream was
garnished withy green whipped
cream.
The place cards were comical re
marks.
The guests were Mr. and Mrs, A.
H. Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn
Marcaman and Mr, and Mrs. W. A,
