Mr. Pierce Power has been quite
«ick with pleurisy for the past ten
days at his home in Atlanta, and
Col. and Mrs. Power have been go
ing down frequently to see nim.
Mre. Charles Bolden and chil
dren, who have been in Louisiana
with Mr. Bolden for several months,
have returned to Marietta now tnat
he is again traveling. They have
rooms with Mrs. Atkinson, on Ros
well Street.

which is to begin promptly at 9:30.

tinues ill at the residerice of Mrs.
John Boston.. Her sister, Mrs. John
son, of Oxford, nas returned home,
but another sister, Mrs. Lowe, of
Beuna Vista, will remain for a
while. Miss McMichael has scores
of friends nere who will watch ea
gerly for any improvement in her
condition.

The Easter music at the First
'Metnodist Church was splendid. A
large congregation was present and
Dr. Smith preached from the text,
“We shall live with him by the
power of God” a brief bul powerful
and fervent sermon. He referred
to the conditions in Europe tne past
three years and the trials that are
facing us in the entrance into the
war showing the supreme impor
tance of individual faitp in Jesus
Christ that our nation should live
to the mottd, “In God We Trust".
Mr. Jerry Crook was received into
the church. At night tae service
was stereoptican illustration of fa
miliar hymns commented upon by
Dr. Smith and was an interesting
service. Dr. Smith expects to fol
low this soon wity a series of il
lustrations on the life of Christ.

Miss Sadie Gober to the Russell
Sage Foundation in New York City
[for a special training in Charities
work. The course requires about
six weeks of study and is awarded
every year to the limited number of
twenty women in the whole United
States who have snown the great
est progress in sociological work.
Miss Gober has attended congresses
at Indianapolis, Baltimore, and New
Orleang, and enjoys the distinction
of being the youngest Secretary of
Charities in the U. 8. °
She has been in tne work at
Jackson, Miss.,, for the past eigat
iteen months. Sae leaves for New
York the last of April.

MRS. REYNOLDS' LUNCHEON.
Mrs. G. P. Reynolds entertained
her Luncheon Club on Thursday,
using a Dresden color scheme. A
large blue wicker basket in the cen
tre of the table was filled witp pink
carnations and lilacs, and had a
butterfly bow of pink tulle on the
handle.

dies and the place cards were ap
propriate to the season.
. A five course luncheon was serv
ed.

VISITORS TO CAPT WILSON
Captain and Mrs. Wilson, of the
National Cemetery, entertained dur
ing the past week Mr. and Mrs. J.
K. Barcroft, of Atlanta, Ga. 1
Mr. Barcroft is a member of the
firm of Austin Brotners, of Atlan
ta, whose business is that of erect
ing steel, iron and cement bridge
througnout the Southern State§.l
While Mr. Barcroft was here he
was awarded a contract for two
iron cages for the use of the Cobb
County convicts. Convict cages and
‘other kinds of jail work seem: to be
a profitable sid--line of this noted
bridge building Co. Tae Barcrofts
and Captain and Mrs. Wilson have
-been intimate friends for many
years. :
Also Captain and Mrs. Wilson
had the pleasure of a two days vi
'sit from Mr. and Mrs. James H.
Hutchinson, of Mobile, Ala. They,
too, are old and intimate friends
of our National Cemetery Superin
tendent and his wife. Mr. Hutehin
éson is a very prominent Mason., Al
'so a lecturer upon Masonery. And
the Captain was overheard to re
gmark to one of our prominent ma
sons of Marietta, “What hé ( Mr.

'sonry, no fellow can find out.”
' Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson were on
their way to Columbus, S. C., where
- he had some business interest to
