The five o'clock tea at the Golf
Club last Thursday afternoon was
the prettiest one yet because the day
and the decorations were so harmoni
ous. =~ °
It was as truly a bit of autumn
as if the wild flowers on the hill-had
sent representatives. There were
callers in all the robes, of dainty wild
wood gentians and asters as well as
richer colored blossoms.
Mrs. John Boston, in lavender, and
Mrs. W. C. Carriker, in lighth green
silk, welcomed callers with their
sweetest tones and brightest smiles.
The assembly room was gorgeous in
golden plumes on every side. The
mantel was banked with golden rod
and & tall brass floer vase om the
hearth held the same showy blos
soms. . The leng table had a lew Jap~

vellow crepe filled with geodden red.

' A DAY OF PRAYER.
On Friday Oct. 12th, there will be
an all day meeting of the Lord’s Day
League in the Sunday School room
of the Presbyterian Church. Mem
bers of all four of the churches rep
resented in the league will take part.
The Methodist will have the hour
from 10 to 11. From 11 to 12 the
league will hold a business meeting
and elect officers. From 12 to 1
the Presbyterians will lead the meet
ing. From 1 to 2 will be an hour
of meditation and silent prayer and
from 2 to 3 o’clock the Baptists will
be leading and from 3 to 4 will be
the hour for the Episcopalians. From
4 to 5 the usual prayer-meeting by
women for the soldiers will be held.
All who feel they must go home for
lanch will be excused during the
quint hewur.
