Lem Scott lost a good mule last

The tackey party given at the home
of Mr. Edd Moon Saturday night was
highly enjoyed by all.
Mrs. D. Z. Dodgen visited her sis
ter, Mrs. Clay of Atlanta, the past
week.
We are glad to see Mr. Albert Med
lin out again after a sever case of
mumps, and gripp.
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Lawrence, of
near Trinity, spent Sunday with Mr.
R. G. Dodgen and family.
Mr. Edgar Allen is confined to his
bed with mumps. We hope to see
him out again soon.
Rev. Crow filled his regular ap
pointment at Concord Saturday and
Sunday, delivering two very able ser
mons. ’

The farmers are taking advantage
of this pretty weather and are plow
ing and planting their gardens.

The flag service at the Methodist
Church last Sunday was very inter
esting. Seme disappointment was
manifested in Rev. Bass, through
some cause, not arriving.

Rev. E. S. Russell, followed by Rev.
J. E. Russell, after which two little
boys, David Goodwin and Edward
Smith, came forward, and saluting
the Flag of our Country, which was
draped from the pudpit, unfurled the
service flag, with its thirty-five stars,
and turning saluted the congregation
amidst a pedl of cheer after cheer,
while the Star Spangled banner was
sung the congregation stood at at
tention slowly bowing their heads,
while Gods blessing was pronounced
on the “boys” these stars stood, for
with their loved ones, and friends,
by Rev. J. E. Russell. '
The church was beautifully decor
ated for the occasion, a large flag be
ing draped from the pulpit, forming
the back ground for the service flag,
also a profusion of small flags was
used, while pots of growing flowers
and ferns were used. The church was
well-filled with a large and appre
ciative audience.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lindley, of Pow
der Springs, were the guest of Mr.
M. F. Strickland and family Sunday
Mr. S. B. Smith spent part of
this past week among kin folks in
Aflanta. .
We are (orry the reports are not
so favorablé in the condition of Mrs.
Smith, and Mrs. Scott.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Camp spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. H.

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Rakestraw
and children, of near Powder Springs
were the guests Sunday of Mr. and
Mrs. J. M. Caldwell. Mrs. Caldwell
was to return with them, going to
visit Mrs. Will Prather, and little
daughter, near Lost Mounttain.
Hon. Hooper Alexander, District
Attorney, will deliver an address at
the Methodist church March 17th,
(third Sunday) at eleven o’clock, on
the Why and Wherefore of our pres
ent condition, telling of some things
we have never understood. Its need
less to say that those who have heard
'Mr. Alexander know what a treat
is in store for them; and those that
have never heard him will never have
the opportunity of hearing a more
brilliant and forceful speaker, one
that will certainly entertain you.
Some special musical features are
being looked forward to. Let's have
the house filled to overflowing—ev
erybody is cordially invited.

G. C. Payne, of this place attended
the funeral of Dr. ¥. G. Anderson,
who died in Atlanta, Ga., February
the 27th. The interment being at
Hollydood cemetery.
Dr. Anderson was a fermer resi
dent of this place; he leaves a wife
and four children, Mrs. G. C. Payne,
Mrs. H. T. Pratt, Misses Evie and Era
Anderson, also three brothers and
three sisters. He was buried with Ma
sonic honors.
Mr. B. W. Osborn, whe has been
suffering with a stroke of paralysis,
is impreving at this writing.
Marvin Arrewood is on the sick
list this week.
The fine weather for the last week
has the farmers in this section plow
ing and planting gardens.
Several from here attended the Sa
cred Harp singing at Marietta Sun
day.
The singing given by Mr. Ed Hill
Sunday night was highly enjoyed by
a large crowd.

Several of the young men from here
went to Atlanta last Saturday night
to the fiddlers’ convention and re
port a splendid time.
Miss Frank Arrowood returned
home Saturday after spending a week
with relatives near Gilmore. |,

Sorry we failed to get there in time

0. F. Daniell Wednesday night was
well attended and a very pleasant
time was had by all present.
The music and singing by Mrs. H.
N. Stegall, was fine and brought
much applause.
The spring-like weather for the
last several days has dried out the
land. Fruit trees are in bloom, farm
ers are preparing to plant their fields,
garden work is well urder way, and
the cooing of the doves and humming
of the bees, all seems to indieate an
early spring. =
Mr. R. P. Willoughby is on' the sick
list for the last few days. Hope he
will seon be eut again.
Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Moss gave a
delightful entertainment to their
friends Thursday night. Some fine
musie and a jolly good time was had
by a large crowd of the younger set.
The song service Sunday night at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Neil
was well attended and some fine
music was rendered.
Miss Grace Gann spent Sunday with
home *folks, accompanied by -her
friend, Miss Pearl Bartlett.
Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Baniell visited
relatives at Oakdale Sunday.
