_Mr. Jas. M. Dicharson, formenly of
St. Paul, Minn., Marble Colorado, and
Tate, Ga., is now working at the
Kennesaw Marble Co. Besides being
a muchly traveled gentleman, he
tarned the columns for Lincoln
Memorial. He is werking in Plan
ing department. Besides being a
“plainer” man he is some boy with
the girls.
Mr. James Sheridan read last week
of something that happens very often
in the Far West. A cowboy at the
round-up on a large ranch jumped
from his horse and grasped a large
bull by the horns and threw him on
his back, saving a beautiful young
girl directly in his path. Some feat
aN right, but some people we know
can throw the bull harder than that
up here.
Our beautiful girls wish they were
men. They cannot enlist but they
can wear khaki uniforms just to show
what they weuld de if they were
men.
The old high cost of living is driv
ing some of the boys back te the soil.
One popular Elizabeth boy will farm
this year and says he will raise corn,
cotton and chickens. Wonder if
‘there is any stump water out that
way.- Just for snake, bites, you know..
Many of our boys and girls are
going into Marietta every day to en
joy the Band coneerts. We will all
miss our soldier boys when they leave
for “over there’.
Geo. Brown, one of our most pa
triotic young: boys, wants to enlist
but is afraid he can not get in. He
is in the first class and says he hopes
they will take him.
Jess Bennett journeyed to Canten
again last week. Something seems
Just to draw him up there. Who is
she, Jess? {
War gardening is going on right
smart in our midst. Everybody is
deing it now. <
Mr. Jas. W. Dishargon, our able
and popular jack of all trades, met
us the other day and showed us sev
eral tricks with a dollar bill. He
took the dellar bill off with him.
Little “Blue Eyes” don’t you know
that curiosity killed the cat? How
ever, we girls are all curious in more
ways than ene, and once our curiesi
ty is aroused, gosh al hemlock, we
just must find out.
Too bad the Marietta ball diamond
was plowed up. We believe in war
gardens. But our national pastime
tends to keep our boys in good con
dition, it is a healthful sport and
we hope that Marietta will hasten to
have another diamond made.
. Goodbye and good luck.
DRIFTER.
ED. NOTE—
To relieve the minds of some of
our readers we will state that our
popular Elizabeth correspondent,
whose identity seems s¢ vague, has
to shave three times a week in order
to look like anything, and has been
seen in the Men’s Bible class (but
not often enough we fear) of one of
our Sunday Schools.
