News From Over The County.
OLIVE SPRINGS.
Dr. D:-C. Barber, of Camp Wheel
er, Macon, is at home now, being
honorably discarged from service.
Durant has a large number of friends
that are delighted over his return
home. He enlisted in 1916 and was
at once sent to Mexican borders and
expected to be sent across but was
sent back to Atlanta and later he
was transferred to Camp Gordon and
from there he was transferred toi
Camp Wheeler. Durant was an ex
cellent soldier and has been activel
in this service. He is a fine young |
man and his friends as well as loved‘
ones, hope that his stay will be long
at Olive Springs, where he has spent
all his childhood days.
Mr. N. H. Stewart ,of Atlanta, is
here and at Jonesville on a visit to
old neighbors and friends. Mr. Stew
art was formerly of this place spend
ing the last four years in McGregor,
Texas, and on account of ill health
he recently returned to Atlanta. He
has a host of old friends here that
wish for him a rapid and complete
recovery.
Mr. C. C. Jones is able to be out
after a week’s illness.
The residence of Mr, and Mrs. H.
S. Hicks has just been completed
which is one among the nicest homes
here. , :
Mrs. Jessie L. Moore was called to
Atlanta on Sunday on account of the
illness of her mother, Mrs. L. G.

Mr. R. L. Shaw, of Atlanta, spent
Saturday might and Sunday here with
relatives.
Mrs. Lula Sanders entertained
quite a ‘large number.of her friends
with a birthday party on Saturday
night. A splendid time was spent
by each one present. After playing
numbers of games suitable for the
occasion, all returned home wishing
for Lula many more just such birth
days.
Mr. J. M. Hames and family left
Friday for Atlanta where they will
make their future home.
Miss Mae Knox came over from
Powder Springs on Saturday after
noon and was heartily welcomed by
friends and relatives here.
The people of Olive Springs and
vicinity will be delighted to learn
Mrs. C. L. Shaw, of Milford, is rapid
ly improving from an operation she
underwent several days ago. Mrs.
Shaw's sweet and gentle disposition
has won many friends that are very
anxious for her a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Nix, of Mari
etta, spent Sunday here with their
daughter, Mrs. Mayo Bruce. |
Mrs. Jessie L. Daniell and little
daughter, Miss Marguerite, spent the
week-end in Atlanta with relatives
and friends. :
" Mrs. J. M. Findley and Miss Ora
Findley are recovering from measles.
The singing Sunday afternoon was
well attended and highly enjoyed by
every one present.
Col. C. J. Moore came up from
Atlanta Saturday to visit his mother
and sister, Mrs. G. S. A. Moore and
Miss Fannie Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pair celebrated
their Bth marriage anniversary and
also 16th of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Dan
iell’s at their home near Mozley’s
Crossing an the car line Sunday,
March 10th, with a dinner whibch had
been nicely prepared by Mrs. Pair
and from their own home products.
Miss Ollie Stephens, of Smyrna,
spent Saturday night and Sunday
here with the families of Messrs. H.
L. Martin and J. J. Sanders.
The people of the Sunday School
were well pleased having Brother
Dock Allgood with them Sunday
morning. ;
Master Sidney Turner has mumps;
doing nicely at this time.

We are sorryto know that Mr. Will
Thomas is very ill at this writing. We
hope he will soon be out again.
We have got several new cases
of mumps in our settlement this
week. It seems that not many have
had them from the way they are
spreading.
Miss Ella Johnson visited Mrs. Jeff
Jones Sunday.
Miss Dova Wilson visited Miss
Olive Nix Sunday.
The soldier beys passed by last
Friday. They looked like they were
full of glee but don't know how they‘
could be, when they don’t know when |
they will have to go to France.

Acworth, made their usual call in
this community Sunday afternoon.

ter, Mrs. Andrew Prather, and Mrs.
Prather accompanied them back to
Atlanta and stayed till Sunday.
Mrs. Lue Watkins spent one day
last week with Mrs. T. B. Lawrence.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Story and lit
tle son, Hubert, spent last Tuesday
night with their son, near Hiram, Mr.
B. D. Story.
Mr. A. A. Griggs, of Macland, spent
Wednesday with his brother, Mr. B.

were called to the bedside: of their
mother, who was very ill but is some
better now.

In the contest of the Methodist
Sunday Sehool for the month of Feb
ruary between the males and females,
for the best attendance, the females
won. The losing side are to enter
tain the whele school next Friday
evening at the school building. Ev
ery man and boy are expected to
take a box of good things to eat
which will be put together for re
freshments. There will be speeches,
an old fashioned spelling Bee, music
and a good time for all who go. Any
members of the Baptist Sunday
School who wish te go are sspeeially
invited to attend. L
