VIOLA DANA in "BLUE JEANS
i g . ys > : ““
On Thursday, April 25th, The Strand will show Viola Dana in “Blue
Jeans.”
This is a seven reel Metro production and is just a simple story of
country life, and it has all the characters familiar to the farm and small
. ¢
village.
It might have happened in your community, in your own life, or.ih
mine. It carries with it the atmosphere of David Harum, and b.rl‘nus
out the tones of the entire keboard of human naturefi from the didicu
lous to the sublime.
: It is wholesome and refreshing and you should not miss it.
CIVIC LEAGUE NOTES.
At the monthly meeting of the Ci
vic League, held Tuesday afternoon,
April 9th, the committee in charge
of the Rest Room and Demonstra
tion Kitchen, reported the work well
in hand.
The house known as the old Agri
cola place has been secured, the rent
for a year being assured by the mer
chants around the square. Some per
son will be secured to take charge
of the rooms and garden and it is
hoped that a long felt need will be
supplied.
A number of improvements in
the house have been planned which
will make it very attractive and

MOVIE NOTES.
It is reported that Wm. S. Hart will
retire from the screen at the ex
piration of his present contract,
which has about a year more to go.
The internal revenue collector is
busy doing his worst in California.
After he had interviewed the mem
bers of the film colony, he felt very
much pleased with himself, having
received $250,000 from Mary Pick
ford, $lOO,OOO from Charlie Chap
lin, and $450,00 from Douglas Fair
banks.
Viola Dana Makes Her Greatest Hit.
Viola Dana, the Metro star, comes
into her own as the greatest of
modern screen artists in the part of
“June” in “Blue Jeans.” While Miss
Dana is known and her work is ap
preciated by hundreds of thousands
of motion picture theatre patrons
none of the vehicles in which she has
appeared in heretofore have given
her the opportunity to show her real
class as does “Blue Jeans.” It is
confidently predicted that after the
public sees the seven-reel Metro pro
duction that Miss Dana’s pictures
will be in greater demand than those
of Mary Pickford, who made her first
big hit in “Tess of the Storm Coun
try.”
