pher, of the Quartermaster’s Corps at
Camp Gordon. .
The wedding took place at 8:30 on
Thursday evening at St. James Epis
copal Church, the Rev. R. R. Clai
borne officiating, and only the imme
diate family being present.
_ The bride, who is a pretty blonde,
was very atractive in her going-away
gown of navy blue taffeea, a hat of
Georgette of the same shade, and
gray gloves and shoes. She wore a
corsage of pink roses and sweet peas.
Her only attendant was her cousin,
Miss Janet Black, while the groom
had as his best man, Mr. Carpenter,
of Camp Gordon.
~ The young couple left immediatey
’after the ceremony for a short wed
‘ding trip.
’ The are at present at home with

~ Miss White is the second daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. A. K. White, and is
a lovely young woman of fine char
acter. She has a wide circle of
friends, both here and in Atlanta,i

geles, has been stationed at Campél
Gordon for the past eight months,
and has made many friends on his|

who has been for some years an in-i
structor in the school for the deaf in
Philadelphia, was the guest of hisi
mother and other relatives in Smyrna
and Marietta last week. Mr. Mann-‘
ing left Monday for Washington, D.|
C., where he goes to report for ser—i
vice. He has been appointed by the
U. S. government to take charge of|
the school for deaf soldiers that is|
being established at Cape May, New |
Jersey. These are the soldiers back
from France who have been rendered |
deaf from shell shock or head wounds |
of some kind. It is a great work, and ;
