COMBING DON’T RID
HAIR OF DANDRUFF
The Easiest and Best Way Is
to Dissolve It.
The only sure way to set rid of
dandruff is to dissolve it, then you
destroy it entirely. To do this, get
about four ounces of ordinary liquid
arvon; apply it at night when retir
ing; use enough to moisten the scalp
and rub it in gently with the finger
tips
Do this tonight, and by morning
most if not all of your dandruff will
be gone, and three or four more appli
cations will completely dissolve aqd
entirely destroy every single sign anfi
trace of It. no matter how much dan
druff you may have.
You will find, too, that all itching
and digging of the scalp will stop
at once, and your hair will be fluffy,
lustrous, glossy, silky and soft, and
look and feel a hundred times better.
If you want to preserve your hair,
do by all means get rid of dandruff,
for nothing destroys the hair more
quickly. It not only starves the hair
and makes it Tall out. but it makes it
stringy, straggly, dull. dry. brittle and
lifeless, and everyone notices it. You
can gat liquid arvon at any drug
store. It is inexpensive and never
fails to do the Work.

MRS. ELSIE FRENCH VANDERBILT, PHOTOGRAPHED ON THE
GANGPLANK OF THE MAURETANIA.
New York. —Friends of Mrs. Elsie French Vanderbilt deny most em
phatically that there was more than appeared on the surface in the at
tention paid to her by the Right Honorable Gilbert George Reginald
Sackville, Earl De Warr, dusing the last voyage to this country of
the Mauretania. The earl was Mrs. Vanderbilt's constant companion on
the trip’, It is said, and the rumor of a possible engagement was launched
into circulation when the nobleman was seen escorting the society leader
from the big ship to the pier. The earl, who is forty-four, has been mar
ried twice. His first wife, the Honorable Muriel Brassey, whom he mar
ried in 1891, procured a divorce in J 902. The following year he married
Mary Clavering, daughter of Col. C. 1.. Tredcrnft, who instituted divorce
proceedings a few months ago. He has two daughters, Lady Myra Idina
and Lady Alice Ela Muriel, and a son, Lord Buckhurst.

Pesach, the Annual Feast of

Friday Wi*h Service at Tel

The Fenst of the Passover begins Fri

tveek, during which time there will be
special services in the Jewish syna
gogues of this city.
In the TeWair Street Synagogue
there will be a divine service Friday at

Pesach the annual Feast of Passover
of Unleaved Bread is celebrated In
Jewish homes and synagogues. Tnl*.
the oldest feast of the Jewish calendar
carries us back Well nigh thirty-tn.ee
hundred years. The awakening of
spring has Its normal appeal and its
practical symbolism to every primitive
people. The agricultural aspect of this
holiday Is seen In the phrase "That it ‘s
to be kept In the season of the M >nth
ofßlpenlngs.” when the barley sown In
winter has become ripe and when an
offering consisting of an omer tone-half
gallon) of barley was brought In grati
tude to the giver of all good.
Historical Significance.
The historical significance of the fes
tlvaJ has over-shadowed Its agricultural
aspect. As the Faest of Freedom It com
memorates the emancipation of Israel
from Kgyptian bondage and the peo
ple's entrance Into the dignity and des
tiny of national life, It thus marks tne
birth of the Hebrew people. The main
characteristic of Its celebration has al
ways been domestic; In the homes the
families and the Invited friends gather
on the evening tin orthodox homes also
on the second evening) to recount In
song and story and amid appropriate
symbolism the deliverance of Israel. The
main, symbols of this Seder Service are
the roasted lamb bone remidlng them of
the lamb that was slaughtered as a sac
rifice of the Covenant; second, the Mat
zah or unleavened bread to he aten dur
ing the whole week, recalling not only
the hasty preparation with which the
Israelites hurried out of Bgvpt, but also
their absolute reliance upon Ood and
readiness to trust in His leadership of
them; and the hitter herbs sugegstlng
vividly the hitter tfe of ther forefathers
In Kpypt which, even today, have not
lost tlie-lr poignant application. Two
other symbols of the table decorations
should be noted; namelv, the four cups
of wine allowed to each one are sym
bolic*! of the fourfold phrase In which
God couched the first "Declaration of
Independence" and the cup of wine
meant for the prophet Elijah who. . -
ways present In spirt, bright ever
anew the message of hope of
the Messianic reign of universal justice,
freedom and peace. The Feast of the
Passover has not lost its thrilling sig
nificance to the modern Jew. To those
still pinnlg in slavery in Russia and
Roumanla, it sings the song of ultimate
redemption, while to those living under
the blesseu flag of freedom it teaches
the undying lesson of gratitude together
with an appreciation of the higher clvla
