POLICE CIRCLES QUIET
ON NEW YEAR’S EVE
Gertrude Jones and George
Anderson Furnish Diversion
in Recorder’s Court By Re
cital of “Lover’s Quarrel.”
New Year's Eve was exceedingly
quiet in police circles. The entire
docket this morning was completed
In 46 minutes. A majority of the cases
were against those who had tmbided
a little too freely In celebrating the
death of the old year. In every In
stance, the recorder Imposed a fine of
$ ! and costs, suspending the three
when the offender was a newcomer.
Every case was one of Just an old
fashioned plain drunk, no one putting
any frills on his celebration.
Gertrude Jones and George Ander
son, members of the colored set, fur
nished an Interesting diversion in the
recital of a "lover's quarrel.” It seems
that Gertrude and George have been
"keeping company" for some little
time As a token of his affection.
George had presented his lady love
with a beautiful "diamond'' pin. Last
evening Gertrude met George and
pleaded for a New Year's kiss, George,
whose ardor seems to have cooled
slightly, objected. Insisting that It was
not proper to present New Year kisses
until 12 o'clock. He also requested the
return of his pin.
Her woman's pride aroused, Ger
trude took George to task for the
change In Ills attitude. The argument
waxed warm, several "love licks”
being exchanged. A heartless officer
overheard tho argument—hence their
uppeurance In court this morning.
Ils Honor, In suspending IS of a
fine of $3 and costs Imposed upon
each, took the opportunity to deliver
a homily upon the advisability of kiss
ing a women when, by so doing, trou
