FJSo THE AUGUSTA HERALD Wants MORE MALE VOICES WANTEOJN CHORUS At Rehearsal Thursday Evening, Ladies Outnum bered Gentlemen, and Prof. Battle is Anxious to “Even Up.” Prof. Samuel T. Battle, who is train ing the grand chorus for the Spring Music Festival, would like to have more male voices. At the Tubman auditorium Thursday evening, more than 100 ladies wore in attendance upon the semi-weekly rehearsal, while hardly more than fifteen gentlemen were present to sing. There are many men in Augusta who have fine voices, and Prof. Bat tle is anxious for them to Join the chorus as early as. possible. He at taches utmost, importance to the ad vantage of training the chorus as much as possible In unison. If, sev eral weeks later, some twenty-five or thirty male voices come in, the ef fect will not. In his opinion, be near so creditable as If they had Joined earlier, and devoted more time to practice. The chorus affords every Augustan who can sing a splendid opportunity to contribute his talents to the suc cess of the Music Festival, which will be the greatest event of its kind ever held In Augusta. It Is an oppor tunity that no loyal citizen or vocal ist should overlook, says Prof. Bat tle, and he would be pleased beyond measure to see the chorus augment ed by many more male voices at the next rehearsal, which will be held Monday night.
