He carried the strange object to his father, who took it to the authorities, and it proved to be the real thing. The huge fragment contains five teeth and their roots and the dentals are pol ished like the ivory of an elephant’s tusk. It resembles enamel and is as white as it is hard. This strange relic of prehistoric days is about eight inches —mg, four inches thick, and Dr. J. O. McFarland, to whom it was taken for identification, declared very fervently that he would quit the den tal profession if he had to work on such bicuspids as these. The gigantic beast must have had his nerve with him, for the cavities in the teeth are several inches long, and the way the tevh were broken up pointed to the fact that the old timer must have just finished Eaton, Ohio. GRAPEVINE BEARS PEACHES GREENSBURG, Ind—Mrs. Anna Anderson, of this city, is exhibiting peaches on a grapevine, accomplished by nature in a whimsical mood, and which iS astonishing persons of this locality. A large grapevine grows in Mrs. Anderson’s yard and near it is a peach tree. in some manner a section of the vine is now producing a shoot, on which is a cluster of tiny peaches. A few are targe enough to show, when cut open, the single seed forming, which resembles in every way the full-grown peach seed. NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC. After legal notice once a week for four weeks it is our intention to trans fer fifteen shares of the capital stock of The Georgia Railroad and Bank ing Company now standing on its books in the name of Mary W. Cal.—Thrice ampu tated, save for a shred of flesh, and thrice healed, so that physicians now announce in ten years there will be no trace of its crushing, is a new sur gical record to be established in Pasadena. The amputations and heal ing occurred to the middle finger of the right hand of eighteen-months-old baby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer I. Moody, No. 265 Centro street. Mr. Moody is a prominent attorney of this etty. Two weeks ago a window fell, crushing the finger and leaving the tip dangling by a strip of skin. A surgeon stitched the fingertip on. Three days later the patient chewed off the bandage and tore loose the stitches. The tip dropped off. Set a second time by the surgeon, v the tip was again ’torn off in .tae same manner. I't was reset and the hand strapped to the tot’s shoulder. PINCHED BY LIGHTNING. Victim Had Queer Accident While Seated in a Chair. RISING SUN, Md.—To be pinched by lightning where a man frequently strikes a match was an occurence that William Conner, of Greenhurst, this county, does not care 'to have repeat ed. He was sitting on a chair, dur ing a storm, when lightning struck the house. The seat of the chair split and closed again, catching Conner by the flesh. The chair had to be broken before he could be released. Every one at the table felt the shock, and the house was considerabi • damaged. Near the bridge at Harry Engia creamery, lightning struck a phone pole, flashed across the rotu. a plow point that lay inside a fence and knocked it down the field for a distance of 'thirty feet, making a fur row as it went. BOY kiIIs'THREE BEARS. SPOKANE, Wash—Near Iron Moun tain lives fifteen-year-oid George Krulatz, son of a farmer in Mon tana Hills, who has made a record for bear killing for a lad of his age, three huge black pelts hanging in his tropny collection, together with an assortment of deer and cougar skins. The husky little fellow re cently felled a monster brown bear above the old town of Forest City, on Cedar Creek, Montana, weighing over 600 pounds. His dogs assisted in the capture, the animal putting up a fight while in the 'throes of death. ARAPHAHOE SAFE. BEAUFORT, N. The weath er is fine and northeaster modera’cd. No fears are entertained for the ves sel’s safety or for the lives of those aboard her.
