Ballots were or dered prepared for three mor clerical delegates. Forty-one votes were cast for lay delegates, and 22 were therefore ne cessary to elect. John W. Holder, with 27 votes; J. T. Williams Intro duced a verbal resolution that me moirs that have already oeen pub lished as obituaries be omitted from oral reproduction at the annual me morial exercises. This was adopted. The following resolution, introduced by Revs. W. O. Butler, R. F. Eakes and C. C. Cary, was adopted: “Whereas, the beauty and utility of our annual memorial services are greatly impaired by the number and length of the memoirs that necess arily have to be read, and which can not well be abbreviated, and, “Whereas, we believe that as ori ginally designed these memorial oc casions should be restricted to tri butes to our preachers only; “Therefore, be is resolved, That that this session the memorial com mittee be excused from reading tri butes to any but members of the con ference.” The resolution met with a negative ! vote that was not called for till Bishop Hendrix, the presiding officer, had Tsfen reminded of his omission. It prevailed again, a few minutes later, upon the failure of a motion to re consider. The resolution is interpreted by its framers to mean that the momirs de ceased wives and widows of minis ters of the conference will not here after be - read at the memorial exer cises, though they will be published with the memoirs of deceased minis ter that will continued to be read alone. Rev. Joseph E. Robbins, of the New Hampshire Methodist conference, was introduced to the North Georgia con ference by Bishop Hendrix. The third ballot for three additional clerical delegates to the general con ference resulted in no election, no candidate receiving a sufficient vot. > —» With Mrs. Paladlno and Mrs. parjp hurst here at once, no wonder the draw lng rooms are a-flutter and a-twll/it. 1 —New York Evening Sun.
