It Is believed that Augusta gives
more than she should to local chari

through a central source It Is thought
that conditions can he Improved

Three Kinds of Charity.
Dr. Jones explained that there are
three kinds of people to be dealt with
In charity work. One Is the chronic
case of the widow and the orphan,
who have to be helped all the time.
Another Is the case of families that
are In temporary need of assistance,
yet who do not wish to be put on the
regular charity role. This type must
be handled with tact and diplomacy
because many (people are proud and
would suffer almost anything rather
than have it known that they are the
recipients of eharlty. The case of
the man who can support bis family
ail right when he is well, but who,
when sick, his pay stops and his fam
ily becomes temporarily destitute,
comes under this head.
The third great class Is that of the
unworthy recipients of charity, drug
and w-blskey fiends and people who
refuse to work. Dr. Jones said that
In the case of an able-bodied man
who refused to work and support his
family step* would be taken to force
him to work.
The scope of the new movement Is
without griping. Please don’t think
of "California Syrup of Figs” as a
physic. Don’t think you are drugging
yourself or your children, because this
delicious fruit laxative can not cause
Injury- Even the most delicate child
can take it as safely as a robust man.
It Is the most harmless, effective
stomach, liver and bowel cleanser,
regulator and tonic ever devised.
Your only difficulty may be in get
ting the (jrenuine, so ask your drug
gist for a 50 cent bottle of “California
Syrup of Flgß," then see that It la
made by the “California big Syrup
Company.” This city has many count

board In that It will Investigate each

a person Is willing and able to work

for him.
To Ralee SIO,OOO.
It Is the purn oee of the new organi
sation, to be known ss the Associated
Charities, the same as the present
organisation of which Mr. Hlacksluar
Is president, and to he operated un
der the present charter, to ralee $lO,-
(MX) annually and employ a general
secretary or head secretary and what
ever other assistants that are need
ed. The new plan will cut out the
overhead charges, etc.. In other Au
gusta charitable organisations and
centralise the charity work so that
one person, the head secretary, who
will he a man who has made a study
of charity work, will know personally
of every charity applicant In the city.
The aim of the Associated Charities
is to prevent so much Indlscrlmlnste
begging of the merchants and busi
ness and professional people gener
ally. In the new orgsnlsatlon an-an
nua! contribution of $5.00 will entitle
one to a membership.
The iplan will be submitted to the

court house and the same cordial re

gentlemen interested as council gave

trotted out with no originality but with
rolor of appropriateness today by R. B.
Strlbllng, a young Atlanta man, who

by a sweetheart whose love of ice
cream sodas and theatre tickets was
not to be appeased by his modest al

Strlbllng cashed the money at a
Gainesville bank, after following the
forged draft, It Is alleged, with a forged
telegram, ostensibly corning from a lo
cal bank and declaring that he had
funds to meet It.
