Died By His Own Hand
Says Telefair Grand Jury
After several days

late Pope S. Hill decided that he

ing to the death of Mr. Hill: ”We
carefully investigated and inquir
ed in the matter of the death
of late Pope S. Hill, who was
found dead in Dodge land office
in the City of McRae, on the
morning of March 5th. Witness

obtained from allavail
able sources, including testimony
of medical experts of the
of Macor. and of McRae, who
examined the body of deceased
after death,|and discoveries made
by competent and reliable detect¬
ives. After a full and complete
investigation, we find that said
Pope S. Hill came to his death
by a pistol shot wound in the right
eye. the pistol being discharged
by his own hand. The evidence
was so clear and convincing that
we have of no this doubt .conclusion” as to the, cor¬

Upon motion the Clerk of Coun¬
cil was instructed to write the pro¬
per officials of the A. C. L. R. R.
Co., and request that electric
lights at the passenger depot be
kept burning during the night and
that another light be placed near
the express office, where it is
much needed,
Upon motion it was ordered
thatsealod bids be asked for and
from the Merchants in the town to
furnish oats, corn and hay for
j mule feed, the bids to be based on
j the per cent above wholesale prices
! and tho feed first-class in quality,
! A petition was read from four

j that an arc light be erected on Pine
street, in front of the Methodist
Protestant church, Upon mo¬
tion it was ordered that an incan
descent light bo erected at this
place.
Upon motion it was ordered
that five hundred hand bills be
printed and distributed through¬
out the town informing the citi¬
zens of the Bond Election to be
held on May 29th, next, and that
all citizens who were registed and
had paid ad taxes due by them
at that date and were otherwise
qualified would be entitled to vote
at this election The Clerk of
Council and two other qualified
managers were authorized to hold
the afore mentioned election on
May 29th, 1909,
There being no further busi
ness, upon motion the meeting

one (1) and two (2) in Block “C”,
said lots being each fiftv (50) by
one hundred and twenty (120)
feet in dimension, and bounded as
follows: North by lot number
three (8) Block “C”, east by a
one hundred and twenty (i20)
foot lane; south by lands of H. W
Whaley and west by new street,
together with all improvements
thereon. The said deed to secure
debt above mentioned was execu¬
ted and delivered to secure the
payment of the certain promissory
note for the sum of one thousand
dollars ($1,000), said note and

2nd, 1908, and the principal sum

Official Route
The Atlanta, Birmirgham & Atlantic R. R., has been named a s
the official route to the Odd Fellows’ Grand Lodge Meeting to be
held at Thoniasvilie, Ga., May 25-27, 1909. Spacial train will be
operated from Atlanta, picking up delegates and their friends from
all intermediate points. This train will be accompanied by represen
tative of tho line, who will look after the comfort «f the Odd Fellows
and their friends.
