The Georgian of Sunday was the edition De-Luxe of newspap
ertbm. It was a gen. of purest water and as a masterpiece ef the
printers art, it will rank as one of the best ever produced in Atlanta
Manager Wgde II. Shepard of the Yacht Coaette of Jacksonvil¬
le, gave the News a most welcome call last Thursday afternoon.
Our Christmas edition had just been run out when the former editor
ef the Hailey News Banner greeted u§ with his big smile, pulled
off bis coat, dug his digits into the ink pot and adjusted the ink
feed for »s and left us happier than we have been for many a day.
Shepard is the same clever newspaper man as of yore and to know
him is to like him. i
It ie now Judge C. B. Conyers tlis well known Brunswick attor

wick circuit on last Friday. i
The court house is still enjoying the holidays, There is little or
nothing doing st the preeent time. No courts will resume business
ontil after January. Even the lawyers are taking things easy.
Of all the foolish legislation that has come to our attention in
years is the law pasted by Congress to make it penal for a person
to write and circulate a check for s sum less than one dollar, but as
it is la# and as it goes into effect next Saturday, we givo it here¬
with for the benefit of our readers,
“Sixtieth Congress Session No, 2. To amend chapter 1321
of the penal laws Of the United States passed March 4 1909
chapter 7 section 178;
No person shall make, issue, Circulate or pay out any note,
check memorandum, token or other obligation for a less
•um than one dollar ($ 1 ) intended to circulate as money
or to be received or used or lieu of lawful money of the Un¬
ited States and any person so offending shall be fined not
work more than $500. or imprisoned not more than six months,
march'. er both. To take effect January 11910.
