He says ltd has tieos the value of tlm yeild of which is equal to twenty bushels of corn. The proceeds and profits is, no doubt; greater than that that most farmers obtain from their farms in this county. For th# first time, last week, we beheld and heat if the noted Rev. Sam Jones in Chattanooga. As a revivalist he is a success, but to speak our hon* Est convictions lie has many superiors. There i 3 not much method and sys tem in bis sermons. It is easy to draw the line between his system ot sermon izing and that of our brilliant and deep divines. While we would not detract a single iota from the fame and imputation he has won as a servant of God, yet, we believe that his success greatly lies iu one ot the weaknesses oi human nature* and that is his comical and pleasing way of putting his ideas and clothing uneonirovei table truths, tor such natiii iley attracts and pleases the human mind. An End To 3one Scraping, Edward Shepherd, of Harrisburg, 111. says': ‘‘Having lt-reived so much benefit from Elec trie Hit levs, t fee! it my duty to let “offering humanity know it. Have had a running sore on my leg for eight years; my doctor.' told mo 1 would iiaio to have the bone scraped o'r leg amputated. I used, instead, three bottles Eleetrie TJitters and seven boxes liueklen s Arnica Salve, nnd my Itr is now sound and well. Electric Bitters are sold at fifty cents a bottle, uueklon's Arnica Salve at 2fto. per box by I'. 11. n. Cole. —-———s> tn— We have Watched and read with interest the Coueant, a weekly edited by Mi Mrs, W. 11. Felton, and pub lilied at Cartcrsville. We have never had any doubt as to the real ability of the editorial staff, but as to what ends that ability and force would ho used to effect—its CuU'se and policy-—was a matter of some interest ami concern to us. This may have arisen from the the fact, that Dr. Felton in his recent political successes and defeat never re ceived anything near a hcaity support from the people of Dade. We would now he untrue to our convictions not to say that Dr. Felton deserves, merits, and is worthy of the highest respect, confidence and trust, not only of the people of this District, but ot the entire State. The C) our ant has not compromised any of the rights and interests of the people of Georgia, nei ther is there the slightest probability of its so doing Its editorials deserve the highest considertttiort fr.m its headers. As seen elsewhere we give an extract from two of them. An Important Discovery. Tho most ihiportant Discovery is that which brings tho most good to tho greatest number. Dr. King’s New Discovery for Con sumption, Coughs, and Colds will preserve the health and sava life, and is a priceless boon to tho affictod, Not only docs it posi tively cure Consumption, hut Coughs, Colds, Bronchitis, Asthma, ltoarsness, arid ail affec.. tions of tho Throat Chest, and things, yfcild at oneo to its curative powers. If yon doubt this get a trial bottle at T. 11. B. Cole’s, CIDMBIt’ATM. Editor Trues: —ln your last issue a disquistion appeared on lawyers and the reasons for tho correspondents own foiicitiness in your columns, and I ask indulgence for a few responsive words. He is welcome fo his preference as to place of living, though it is a matter of rcasbn-w hy to me. At first It ap pears that it is owing to his aversion to lawyers. Poor fellow! he has lost his case; he forgot that there was an other hide to it; one lawver! it is very evident that he never saw but one side ot it, or it may be that he knew better how it ought to have been manage:! by his lawyer, therefore his reason fof giving “vent to his feelings- How he fears the Lord! Of course one who fears the Lord loves his fellow man. But h ewants only one lawyer. That would suit his fear of tho other side better than the fear of the Lord; he could retain that one lawyer and leave the other side blank—qnict his fears as to others rights. “We folks down here do fear and reverence Him.” Well, I wonder if the readers of the Times know that Mr. Farmer hails from that section of Dade where there are scarcely enough trees on which to make lines and land marks— so much litigation about where the lines ought to be that all the hark has been peeled off of tlic trees in changing the old lines and making new ones. Lawyers know all about who fear and reverence tho Lord; and Ms. Farmer next time you want to make such an explosion, you get off some where in a fence coi ner and talk it to an old innocent farmer who knows nothing about lawyers. "i on (Farmer) had better begin anew, and be sure tliar you begin at the right end, with your “fear” and “wisdom”, and bo sure that you have the “genuine” prudence to use it. Good Templar’s Lodge and girls! Well, yes, they both go together That Order could not flourish without them. A little digression! It is strange to me that the “good old fathers and mothers” so permit the young “dudes’ and Misses to so blind their perceptions Oh! what good temperance boys they are, and how they love and work for the cause! Just about the way with Mr. Farmer; he is very devoted to the great temperance caitso, and the poor old man don’t know that he is more devoted to his daughter. That is rihgt girls, make good temperance boys out of thorn, then catch them if you can; but be sure that they don’t join the “meeting house’ s and temperance lodge to catch you, then, after they get yon tied, join the grog-shop and devil. But girls, about Morganville, don’t let Mr Faimer come about Trenton of ten, not that I or the other “young limb of the. law” are afraid of his carrying off either of our pretcrer.ee, but for your own sakes, if you have any interest in him. Tha: is because it has been brought about by local option, in which neither party took a stand, but let the people vote as they pleased. When the lop-sided people who sup pose they are gifted in the way of ear ing lor the public morals, Shall con cent to let each commuNity sottle its own affairs on the temperance question > then we may hope for something prac tical in Ohio.
