The intimacey of thé family eaused

Reared in the lap of religion, her

the young couple enjoyed religion

Just as their happiness wos about
mellow into maternal and paternal
joy, the iron gripe of death tore
from dic fond embrdee of this

| A MOTHEMS AFFECTION,
Mothers live for their children, make
self-sacrifices for them and manifest
their tenderhess and love €o freely, that
the name mother is the sweetest in hn
man langnage. And vet sons, vouthful
and aged, know but little of the anxiety,
and nights of sleeplessness and painful
golicitude which their mothers have
spent over their thoughtless wayward
ness. Those loving hearts go down o
their graves with their hours of seeret ag
ony untold, As the wmother watches by
night, or prayr in the privacy of her clos
ety she weighs well the words she ad
dress to her gon in order to lead him {o
manhood of honor and usefulness. She
will not tell him all the griefs and deadly
fears which beset her soul. She warne
him with trembling, lest she say over
much, She tries so charm hinm with cheer
v loyve while her heart is hieeding, N
worthy orsuceessful man ever vet knew
the breadth and depth of obligation
which he is tnder to the moiber whe

GOOD HUMOR.
Good hunior is the cleéar blue sky of the
soul, on which every star of talent will
shine more ¢learly, and the snn ol geni
us encounter no ¥apors in his passage.
"Tis the mogt exquisite beauty of a fine
face; a redeeming grace a homely one.
It is like the green in the landscape,
hormenizing with every color, mellow
‘ ing the glovies of the bright, and soften
ing the hue of the davk; like flute in a
ull concert instruments, a sound not ad
first discovered by the ear, and yet fiil
ing up the breaks in the concord with its
deep melody,
WHAT HE SAID.
