Head and daughter, Miss Rachel; attended the district Sunday School convention at Car-, roliton last week. Miss May Warthen, after a pleasant visit to relatives here, returned ‘to her home in Pike county last Satarday. The many remarkable cures Hood’s Sarsaparilla accomplishes are sufficient proof that it does possess peculiar curative powers. Mr. Joe W. Kelley is one of the most successful teachers in this part of the State, and the people appreciate his merits. He now has over ninety pupils on his roll. i $6.00 for §I.OO Somebody will get five dollars in gold and the BaNNER one year for §I.OO Try it; you may be the person. * The Tallapoosa Singing Con vention, which meets at Felton to-day and continues through Sunday, will be largely attended, and a royal time is atticipated. An interest ing program has been arranged, and it is hoped that every school belonging to the Association will come out in full force. A grand and glorious time is expecfed.— Don’t fail to attend. A competitive examination will be held in this county on the last ‘Saturday in August by the Coun ty School Commissioner to de termine who shall be entitled to the scholarship in the Georgia 1 School of Technology. HEach coun ty is entitled to as many scholar ships as it has representatives.— For particulars apply to the Coun ty School Commissioner. Mr. John Helton, of Waco, and Miss Sarah Bush, daughter of Mr. H. P. Bush, came to Buchanan last Sunday for the purpose of uniting in marriage, but as there is no law authorizing the issuing of license- on Sunday, they were disappointed and had to postpone the happy occasion. License was issued for them Monday, and we suppose the ceremony has been performed. May their happiness‘ never again be interrupted. Waeo is progpering. Nor is she only prospering in material things. One of the best revival meetings is in progress there that it has been onr good fortune to witness in a Jong while. Last week the M. E. church had protracted ser vices, and this week the M. P. church is continuing the good work. Rev. My, Howell, of Alabama, has been conduct ing the services, and his logie, eloquence and Christian zeal has stirred not only ‘the town bat the surrounding country.— We had the pleasure of hearing him on Wednesday night, and he spoke with guch power as is only given by the Holy Spirit. we did not learn low many ac cessions Fave beenmade to the churches. “The M. The legislature is still wrestling with the w. & A. road. . Misses Ola and Mattie Atkinson have returned to Buchanan, | Elsewhere will be seen the specifica tions of the new Masonie building, | The election in Floyd connty last Tues day, resulted in & majority of 552 for the sale of liquor. i Haralson was very well repre sented in the Sunday School con vention at Carrollton last week. Dr. Neill has moved into the house re cently vacated by Mr. Joe w. Kelley.— Elsewhere will be found his card. He comes among us with a good reputation, and will doubtless do his share of the practice. Mr. George M. Woodley has one of the finest orchards in the coun ty. He has quite a variety of the very best of fruits. We had the pleasure a few days ago of enjoy ing some of as fine peaches from his orchard as we ever saw. In company with Dr. F. R. Smith we had a pleasant trip to Tallapoosa last Saturday. We never saw better crops than are along this road, both cottou and corn. And we found the people of Tallapoosa very hopeful con cerning the future growth and prosperity of this magie little city. Tallapoosa is omne of the prettiest places in the state, and possesses many uatural advan tages. Her rapid growth was wonderfal, and there is good rea sou to hope that she will soon take on new energy in her march for supremacy as the leading city of western Georgia. gL Dyspepaip . Makes the lives of many peopfc miserable, and often leads to self destruction. We know of no remedy for dyspepsia more suc cessful than Hood’s Sarsaparilla. It acts gently, yet surely and ef ficiently, tones the stomach and other organs, removes the faint feeling, creates a good appetite, cures headache, and refreshes the burdened ntind. Give Hood’s Sarsaparilla a fair trial. It will do you good. Columbug held a mass meeting last Monday night to consider the extension of the C. R. & C. road to that city. The meeting wasan enthusiastic one, and a committee was appointed to solicit subsecrip tions for the necessary sum to se cure the road. It now looks as though the road will soon extend to Columbus, which will make this a valuable road indeed. ' COUGH! axp COUGH!! axD COUGH!!! What in the world is the reason yon will congh and keep coughing and still keep trying inferior med icines when Beggs’ Cherry Cough Syrup will positively relieve your cough at once? This is no adver tising scheme, but an actual fact, and we guarantee it., Neill & Co., druggists, Buchanan, Ga., and Bishop & Hearn, Waco, Ga. The Macon Telegraph makes a strong plea for the teachers of this State. It argues that the teachers should be promptly paid at the end of each gquarter, and not be com. pelled to wait until the end of the year for their publie school money. The Telegraph is right.
