Mr. John Helton, of Waco, and
Miss Sarah Bush, daughter of Mr.
H. P. Bush, came to Buchanan
last Sunday for the purpose of
uniting in marriage, but as there
is no law authorizing the issuing
of license- on Sunday, they were
disappointed and had to postpone
the happy occasion. License was
issued for them Monday, and we
suppose the ceremony has been
performed. May their happiness‘
never again be interrupted.
Waeo is progpering. Nor is she only
prospering in material things. One of
the best revival meetings is in progress
there that it has been onr good fortune
to witness in a Jong while. Last week
the M. E. church had protracted ser
vices, and this week the M. P. church is
continuing the good work. Rev. My,
Howell, of Alabama, has been conduct
ing the services, and his logie, eloquence
and Christian zeal has stirred not only
‘the town bat the surrounding country.—

The election in Floyd connty last Tues

sale of liquor. i
Haralson was very well repre
sented in the Sunday School con
vention at Carrollton last week.
Dr. Neill has moved into the house re
cently vacated by Mr. Joe w. Kelley.—
Elsewhere will be found his card. He
comes among us with a good reputation,
and will doubtless do his share of the
practice.
Mr. George M. Woodley has one
of the finest orchards in the coun
ty. He has quite a variety of the
very best of fruits. We had the
pleasure a few days ago of enjoy
ing some of as fine peaches from
his orchard as we ever saw.
In company with Dr. F. R.
Smith we had a pleasant trip to
Tallapoosa last Saturday. We
never saw better crops than are
along this road, both cottou and
corn. And we found the people
of Tallapoosa very hopeful con
cerning the future growth and
prosperity of this magie little
city. Tallapoosa is omne of the
prettiest places in the state, and
possesses many uatural advan
tages. Her rapid growth was
wonderfal, and there is good rea
sou to hope that she will soon take
on new energy in her march for
supremacy as the leading city of
western Georgia.
gL Dyspepaip .
Makes the lives of many peopfc
miserable, and often leads to self
destruction. We know of no
remedy for dyspepsia more suc
cessful than Hood’s Sarsaparilla.
It acts gently, yet surely and ef
ficiently, tones the stomach and
other organs, removes the faint
feeling, creates a good appetite,
cures headache, and refreshes the
burdened ntind. Give Hood’s
Sarsaparilla a fair trial. It will
do you good.
Columbug held a mass meeting
last Monday night to consider the
extension of the C. R. & C. road
to that city. The meeting wasan
enthusiastic one, and a committee
was appointed to solicit subsecrip
tions for the necessary sum to se
cure the road. It now looks as
though the road will soon extend
to Columbus, which will make
this a valuable road indeed. '

The Macon Telegraph makes a
strong plea for the teachers of this
State. It argues that the teachers
should be promptly paid at the end
of each gquarter, and not be com.
pelled to wait until the end of the
year for their publie school money.
The Telegraph is right. The un
certainty of receiving their pay
